2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible
California has always been about fun in the sun and Infiniti didn't disappoint at the Los Angeles Auto Show by launching the 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible. The open-air version of the high-powered G37 Coupe retains all of that model's performance with the added convenience of a three-piece power retractable hardtop.
While the convertible shares the same sexy lines as the coupe, all the sheetmetal aft of the A-pillar is new, along with a 1.1-in. wider body, a wider rear track and a modified rear suspension, all of which helps to accommodate the folding hardtop.
The heart of the G37 Convertible is its responsive 3.7-liter V-6 engine, which produces 325 bhp and 267 lb.-ft. of torque. The G37 Convertible is offered in two trim levels, standard and the Sport 6MT. Standard models are equipped with a smooth operating 7-speed sequential-shift automatic, which features downshift rev-matching and a quick-shift Drive Sport (DS) mode. In addition, the gearbox has an adaptive shift mode that matches the operation of the gearbox to the driver's style. The Sport 6MT, as the name implies, features a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox. All Sport models (both automatic and manual) benefit from 19-in. wheels and tires, sporty seats, aluminum pedals and brake upgrades that include 14-in. front discs with 4-piston calipers.
The rear-drive G37 Convertible rides on a 112.2-in. wheelbase and features a fully independent suspension with front wishbones and a multilink rear. The 4-passenger convertible is also offered with an optional Bose Open Air Sound system, which features new speakers and proprietary Bose technology. As part of the system, the front bucket seats are equipped with headrest speakers to deliver high quality sound even when the top is down.
