We've mentioned Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima's plans to tackle this year's Pikes Peak climb in a custom-built electric racer, and today Tajima revealed his ride in Japan, this carbon-fiber bodied runner powered by a yet-to-be-disclosed electric combo. Too bad it's going up a mountain, because it'd look right at home patrolling Gotham.

The Monster Sport E-RUNNER Pikes Peak Special will follow in the tracks of Tajima's record-setting run last year, the first by a driver to finish the Pikes Peak course in under 10 minutes. This year's race will be much faster thanks to full paved roads, but it's still not clear how Tajima might compete for an Unlimited class win versus 900-hp gasoline machines.

Tajima isn't the only electric entry in this year's race, with Mitsubishi entering this highly modified version of the i-MiEV electric car, which looks like a regular i-MiEV given pontoons and a 335-hp drive system, which will compete head-to-head against Tajima in the electric class. Pikes Peak may be a bit quieter this July, but it won't be less competitive.
