- Excellent engine, good highway fuel economy
- Very bad workmanship, upholstery peeling and falling apart in 2 years, rough seats
The engine performance and the ride are excellent. I usually averaged 29 mpg on highway. Pleasure to drive.
That is almost everything good I can say about my BMW 325Ci. Everything else is bad.
The trunk cover that covers the spare tire is not clipped: it vibrates and knocks all the time. The trunk is made realy cheap inside.
The clips that hold the bumpers are also very cheap and very easy to break. BMW asked for almost $250 to replace a broken clip. I changed it at another place for $47.16.
The windows crack at the smallest impact. After a small stone hit the front window I even did not notice it at first, but in two weeks the crack spread diagonally to the other end of the window. I was thinking that BMW uses 3-sheets glass in their windows, but it does not appear to be the case. To replace the window costs $600 because of the rain detector, and it is not covered by the warranty.
The alloy wheels get dirty of brake dust. I have to clean them once per week with a special dust cleaner, which costs about $6 and hardly is enough to clean all 4 weels. No other car gets that durty of brake dust.
Without being sure of the reason, I got flat tire twice on the highway. I have never got flat tires before with any of my other cars. But this can be a bad luck. To replace a tire costs $190.
But the worst is to come. The door upholstery strips over the windows started peeling off and felt before even the car made 2 years. BMW said that this is normal. I don't think it is normal even for the cheapest car, not talking about $35,000 BMW. I don't know what else can happen when the warranty expires and I have to pay for everything.
In overall, I am very dissatisfied with the car workmanship and think that the car does not worth the money.
