I own a Lexus SC430 Coupe and a Lincoln Navigator. My wife's Jag X- Type's lease ended so we needed to replace it. We test drove the Mercedes C300, the Lexus ES350, and a BMW 328xi. We both felt the BMW was the car for her. The 1st dealer had no 335's in stock. I went to the Dealer on the east side of town to get a second quote on a 328 and asked to take a test drive in a 335. All I can say is that was a $4,000 test drive. The car just blew me away. With it's combination of performance, handling. comfort, and superior quality it truely is The Ultimate Driving Machine. The only problem I have is I hardly get to drive it, but when I do.....What a treat!...read morehide

- Fast and Powerfull. Great corning and stop.
- MPG , Floor Mat
I like it very match compared to my BMW 525 `04. The 335xi drives smooth when roads are smooth, but I live in Michigan sometimes you feel ride is too harsh. MPG not great in city. Floor mat on driver side moving they do not stick to the floor so ends up blocking the clutch and breaks pedals. All in all so far it has been a great car, good looking on the outside and luxry on the inside the most powerfull....read morehide

- Love the way it looks in black, love the way it drives
- Hate the reliability issues that are unresolved, needs lots of oil and gas
Well what should I say? I don't usually waste my time writing reviews on cars but in order to let out my frustrations I'm doind everyone a service. Lets start by saying this is one of the best driving and most comfortable cars I've driven and THE biggest reason I bought it and I'm not mindlessly bashing my car. We had owned a 1990 328 and it was great and so decided to get another one. My wife loved the way it looks and combined with its driving and super cheap lease, decided to get it. I should have done more research however and see the reliability issues that plague not only this car but all BMWs. I thought they made the "ultimate driving machine" but I guess that doesnt mean it will hold up for more than 6 months. Things started to fail at about 15k miles or the first year we owned it.
The iDrive was a big mistake and a waste of money. It looks great but impossible to use while driving. When the weather go cold the screen was very touchy and several times did not work at all. BMW fixed with a new system-- the entire system. Soon after the power seats went out and BMW fixed it but soon after the same problem. so far croos our fingers its ok. Then one day the starter button refused to start the car and was fixed. The front wheel bearing made noises like an iPod in a blender while driving down I95 to VA and was nothing but a headache to get everything in order. Returning from another trip, the rear speaker mount vibrated out of place and continues to make broken speaker noise. We also had BMW add..... no joke, 14 quarts of oil over the course of one year! Is that a shame?! There was a few times it made a cloud of smoke but other than that where did it all go is the question. Thank God they pay all the maintenance costs cause I heard synthetic oil costs $15 per qt. BMW claims its normal and asking around other people have been having this problem as well and there is no solution but theyre working on it. so much for being environmentally friendly. In any event the probelms continue- the a/c belt went broke at 8k miles, the steering pump needed to be replaced at 9k miles and the blower motor burned out shortly after. Electrical problems here and there add up to a pain in the neck and take away the joy of driving this car. FYI we were 100% happy with our 2005 Chevy Suburban and would get another one but not another BMW....read morehide

- Handles great, mp3 adapter
- Reliabilty issues, engine had to be replaced at 6000 miles
This car is plagued with problems, first the car came with a ton of rattles coming from the rear passenger door. Took to two seperate dealers a total of six times, but they only somewhat fixed them. Now the car is in the shop because it left me stranded on the way back from work. Turns out the car needs a new engine.Another problem with the car is that there is serious hesitation when accelerating from a dead stop, as well as when trying to pass up other cars on the highway, this is a liabilty issude and bmw should really fix this. Sad to say, im gonna sell it as soon as they replace the engine, as i've already been through enough grief and mental anguish caused by the terrible customer service at EVERY BMW dealer that iv'e been to....read morehide

- Drives like a slot car, stops on a dime
- so many problems i cant count, problems, problems, poor gas mileage, problems
Traded in my A4 after lease was up. Hated that car 100% for reliability issues was hoping BMW was better. Its not. As many problems as my A4- rear bearings replaced at 5k miles, trunk latch broken, rear suspension unbolted itself out of the frame, right rear brake caliper replaced with 15k miles, added 1qt oil every month, power window switch defect, interior panels shook loose needed new screws, front speaker loose, wiper motor burned out replaced at 18k miles, windshield cracked unexpectedly, rear defroster broken... thats my list so far and its been 1 year. I don't want to own this car for 5 years! Had my Toyota Avalon for 10 years and not a single problem. Never again will I plop down $7gs on a lease for a BMW thats for sure! Contacted BMWNA for an early return and so far maybe theres a chance. could just be a lemon according to them...read morehide

- Rides nice I like getting on the freeway with power and speed
- Fuel economy is lacking and car insurance if leasing can be expensive.
I like my 328I had it for 3 mos and it runs great, no mechanical problems other than the tire pressure . Its a smooth ride and stops on a dime.
The stereo system has nice sound. The back seats are reduced but its not a problem for me since I am usually the only one in the car most of the time. One thing if your going to lease the car ask about the insurance. I just received a notice from BMW requiring that on liability limits for bodily injury per person to be min $100,000 and bodily injury per occurrence min of $300,000. This is more than the car is worth! I have a good driving record so that can't be it. I would not finance it thru BMW next time. Too early to tell if I would lease another 3 series....read morehide

- No trim specified for this review
- looks sleek,nice nav system,cockpit
- Feels like youre driving 1987 Ford Ranger thats been lifted
BMW I am so sad. I only have 2000 miles on the car & its in the shop cuz the windshield fluid light keeos on, even after filling the fluid. I am having them look at the suspension on BMW NA advisemnet even though I know afetr reading these blogs that they will most likely dismiss me. The issues are that the ride is rough, rattly, vibrates, shakes over 65mph & this whole time I have only been getting 41.5 mpg. The service advisor has told me two big whopping lies so far. The best one was when I asked them to inspect the tire suspension he said that the car is "not even broken in yet--it'll need at least another 6 mos to get 19-25 mpg." I just laughed & said that theres no asterisk at the bottom of the sales receipt saying *19-25mpg only valid at 7 mos & over.* Oh my God -this is not a luxury car-its "pretty" junk. I want my Mercedes back. What have I done?
I absolutely cannot belive BMW has taken up with these RFT's compromising their Ultimate Driving Experience,it just isnt worth it....read morehide

- Acceleration, comfort, build quality
- Poor MPG, ugly rims, small trunk space and back seat space
Fun car to drive and I look forward to driving it everyday. The MPG isnt too good and very pricey for extra options. Its hard to believe that a BMW comes without power seats but the performance makes up for it. I also wish there was a little more back seat/trunk space.

- Power to spare and smooth transmission shifts
- Rough ride with sport pkg and needs oil every month and reliability issues
Great driving car. I like it very much compared to my Audi A4 I just traded in. I got it fully loaded so I can talk about everything. I love the large nav screen but its very complicated to operate. I still have no idea how to adjust anything on the radio without going through 2 or 3 levels of computer tourture. Everyone I let drive this car loves the sound the engine makes and how fast it is its unbelieveable to experience like driving a rocket. The car drives great when the roads are smooth but where I live we have many cracked up roads and it makes my kidneys hurt after an hour drive so the ride is definitely tooo harsh. The other problems I encountered were a persistant low level of oil that seems to get burned up too fast. I noticed the door trim was also loose and coming off the post which is something unexpeted in a $45k car. When parked overnight at a friends house, it refused to start the next morning and needed to be towed away which is also unexpected for such a car and a sad sight to see like a child being taken to the hospital! The power seats dont do what I always want and sometimes push me into the wheel and dont stop. I think this is a serious problem. The all wheel drive seems to make strange noises especially when its cold and I turn then it makes the sound of metal on metal grinding noise which the dealer has to fix this week. I also noticed a few rough starts and the idle went boom bumpboom and I thought it was about to stall out then I gave it some gas and it was ok. The rear seat is nonexsistant but the front is very comfortable. The doors close very solidly sounding. The gas goes fast though. I'm not the best in math but I guess its about 15 mpg average between highway and city driving which is mostly highway so its a bit alarming but I hope that goes away when the car is not new and tight. The dealership could be more friendly and I had to wait sometime (2 hours) before I could get a loaner car which I now needed 3 times in 3 months so I hope it wont become a habit. I also noticed the sunroof seemed to not close 100% and a bit of water came in the cabin. Looking at it closer I noticed the glass does not line up and the seals are loose. So other than some quality issues and reliability issues I like the car. I have to see if I still like it after the 3 year lease is up to get another one. Right now I'm not liking the quality and reliabilty issues....read morehide
