Purchased As New
We leased the 328i Modern two weeks after the new model debuted this February. As a result, selection was limited, but we picked the closest to what we wanted for options. Interior seems as roomy as outgoing 5 series. Note, BMW-assist is a "must have" option.
Love the styling, exterior and interior, and trims available. Again, Modern line appealed to us with brushed metal and unique interior appointments. All controls look and feel great. Only auto wiper LED is blocked by steering wheel. Cruise control functions are excellent and intuitive. Base sound system is plenty loud and accurate for us.
We selected the 2.0 motor, in part for fuel economy and dealer availability. Car gets 40 mpg at 75 mph highway cruising. Stop-start is rough, especially when the computer restarts car. If I get car to restart, releasing brake, restarts are smoother. Throttle (gas pedal) is progressive in normal and sport mode, but in Eco-Mode the turbo comes on abruptly when wanting quick acceleration. The HVAC works great, but can take a while to cool car in HOT Florida. We have not had problems with run-flats. The ride is comfortable, grippy when necessary, and fairly quiet on Florida's smooth roads. I do not have cowl shake as other comments note.
Overall, we love this car and will seriously consider purchasing this car or releasing a 3 at conclusion.
