As always BMW is far ahead of the rest, the exterior style could be better but it still gets a lot of looks. I am looking forward to driving the M5.
Go get yours.

- nav system leaves much to be desired; battery charging system is strange

First, several "reviewers" have l;eft comments on this vehicle that do not belong. One stated that BMW took 4 years to handle his problems. The vehicle has only been available for two model years so he obviously has the wrong model in mind. Another complained about tires. Tires are not what makes the vehicle, and fortunately, do not make the entire vehicle poor. Tires on the 5 series are run flats and several brands have been less than great in longevity. If they fail within warranty, complain long and loud and make the manufacturer handle the warranty.
The vehicle has been excellent in every way. Two shortcomings I find are the navigation system which is difficult to see in some light conditions. That however is offset by the secondary display in the drivers module directly between the speedometer and tach. Setting directions by the iDrive is not all that convenient either; a touch screen would have been preferable.
As for the battery charging system...the vehicle is charged only when it coasts or the grakes are applied. Thus at idle or when running at speed, there is no charge to the battery. Numerous complaints about the battery warning coming on and electrical components being shut down automatically to save the battery. In my opinion, a bad trade-off to up fuel mileage that makes you wonder if you could end up stranded somewhere due to all the high drain electrical and electronics on this vehicle....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Awesome looking. Moon roof standard. Two ways to open trunk. Good if you have the options you want. Not best BMW made.

- Pros
- Plush Roomy Interior, Advance tech, Good MGP, free service
- Cons
- Lots of gadgets to get used to, cost??

The car (all packages except ventilated/luxury seat package) was delivered to me 2 days ago. Been driving here and there around town. To put my review in perspective, I had a loaded 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD before this car. This car blew the TL away!! Is it worth 25k more, not sure just yet...
One of the reason we needed a new car is for the cargo space for the planned family. The room on the rear seats is HUGE!! (larger than the X6) Compared to other SUVs, it had much more leg room and maybe headroom as well. The interior is top notch!! The instrument panel along with the iDrive system provides the driver so much information (maybe too much)...
The drive is what really seperate a BMW from the rest. Yes, it is not your conventional BMW driving experience, but we knew that as this was design to be a more touring sendan. Still the car with its dynamic driving system outperform the TL in everyway!! Corners, acceleration and the smoothness is incredible!! I had to look down on my speedometer all the time, because I didn't realize I was doing 70mph...
So far I have no problem with the car, but then again it is only 2 days old...the maintanance is free for 4 years on BMW so it is a plus.. we also purchased the tire insurance for 5 years.. as the car comes with run-flat which is about 400-500 per tire..
I love the look of the car, some people hate it, but I love it... it drive bigger than it looks... but it is not an SUV and doesn't drive like one for sure...
The cargo room with seat down is very large..with the seat up it would be just like a typical sedan but with a little more height due to the hatchback..
Overall, I think this is a great car.. I bought this for $66k with the MSRP of $72k.. (they also terminated my TL lease without penalty).. Is it worth the money?? So far, I believe it is.. this car would be a huge bargain if it is at $60k... Not many 2011 still out there... get this before they are all gone......read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

The style is my love at first sight, AWD is a plus.
Seat adjustment like a custom made just for you.
GPS package has 3D graphic, very impressive.
Rear view small but is acceptable.
I am not compare 0-60, try 70-120 pick up very fast.
Run flat tires are a little firm but I can live with it.
After 6 months with 7200 miles, no problem at all.
You will see lots of car company following the GT styling soon....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Fancy, nice-looking
- Cons
- Terrible tires
Purchased As New
The tires that this 5-series BMW car comes with are terrible. I bought a 5-series 2010 totally new car; after 6 months driving the car has less than 6,000 miles on it and one day the right back tire exploded just like that when driving at 30 minles an hour. The dealer said those were the tires the car came with and that they were brand new. One certainly wouldn't expect such a fancy expensive car would come what such a trashy set of tires; not to mention that about once a month the car computer detects a "low pressure tire" and I have to stop and fill it with air all the time. You shoudln't buy a BMW; you can easily have a much better car for that amount of money.. or if you still buy a BMW be sure you pay whole insurance for the tires....read morehide

- Many and many trips to the dealer service department
Purchased As New
I bought mine brand new with 7 miles on it. It should be one of the most reliable German cars. It took the dealer service department over 4 years to fix the airbag module. The car engine compartment was all replaced but the engine block. All my friends had BWM 5 series sweared that our car is the last German car. Sorry to hear that you just bought yours....read morehide

- Seatbelt Warning, Navigation Disclamer Warning,

Took delivery on the "European Delivery". The car rides well and sport mode feels solid. I'm not a race car driver but in sport mode winding roads in Italy were easier to navigate. The "CAMERA PACKAGE" I think is a must have option because this is a hatch back. The rear seat is very large, not surprising since this model is based on the 7-Series platform. In summary, get a car with plenty of cargo room, larger than a 7-Series and at a 5-Series price....read morehide

- Pros
- 7 Series luxury, 5 Series pricing, Sports handling, SUV do-all
- Cons
- Poor rear visibility even with the camera package

When I first saw this vehicle, frankly I wasn't sure what it was. Sort of like looking at a rather stout lady trying to look gracious, I suppose. But one drive solidified my love for the car. BMW fit, finish and superb handling, accompanied by choice of three levels of suspension, chassis and engine tuning on the fly, with the sure footedness of all wheel drive. Couple that with good gas mileage, averaging 25 MPG on the highway with less than 2000 miles on the odometer. Lots of power with the 300 HP turbocharged 6 cylinder engine.
The interior is pure luxury especially with the Sport Package which includes 20 way adjustable seats. The finely stitched Dakota Leather interior is standard and Nappa Leather is optional. Rear seating is excellent with lots of headroom and more foot room than I can ever remember on a car; a 2+2 option is available, limiting rear seating to two seats, although I opted for the standard rear seats which seat three and have a nice fold down armrest with opening console and dual cup holders.
Lots of cargo capacity with fold down rear seats; center also folds down for ski pass through. A folding rear cargo divider also separates the rear from the seats, preventing damage from cargo, and offering additional sound deadening. A power opening and closing liftgate is standard as are power closing doors. Automatic dual zone climate control is standard as well.
A Great BMW vehicle. Rather odd when first viewed, perhaps, but so easy to love....read morehide0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
