This car is fantastic! I never owned a BMW before. I sat in one at the LA Auto Show and fell in love with the car. When I went for a test drive, I knew I wanted the Sport Package and Nav. They had one just like I wanted. The salesman not only took me on the highway, but he took me to a type of auto testing area where he really showed me what the BMW 5 Series and the Sport Package can do. Then he left us use the car for the rest of the day to run our errands. That sold it for us. For a mid to larger sedan, this car is simply awesome. The handling is out of this world. We ordered one and had it delivered from Germany in less than one month.
I've read the horror stories about the I-Drive. I had one minor software problem. I took it in, they updated the software and I'm good to go. People complaining about the I-Drive need to advance into the 21st Century. I'll admit they could have made the I-Drive more "user friendly", but it ain't rocket science.
The only real problem I have is with the NAV system. BMW needs to take some lessons from the Japanese on NAV systems. I should be able to set the destination to home from the voice system by simply saying something like "HOME". Also, you cannot search for a desired location by name; you have to hunt for it from a list that's not in alphabetical order. For a $2000 option, I'd expect more common sense from the Germans.
