2014 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe User Reviews
640i xDrive shown

- Engine, engine, interior.
Purchased As New
The 650 Gran Coupe is all what the critics say and I love it for exactly those reasons. It is sleek without being aggressive. It is made for men that have their midlife crisis behind them and I feel confirmed. And it has a fifth seat that just comes in handy once a year, when you've met your woman of dreams - with her three kids (ok, the white interior can be cleaned afterwards, it is just the finest leather).
The engine. Cultivated in its sound and fantastic in its acceleration. No show-off and it is not necessary. Others do not need to hear the V8 roar when you are passing them. That is style. Push it up a Swiss mountain pass and you will know what the 450hp were made for, while the bikers in front of you wonder why they cannot get rid of you. The ease of the V8 pull is just simply all you will ever need while sitting in a silent interior.
The insides. Slide onto the beautifully shaped seats and you will feel like at home on your exclusive sofa. The finish is impeccable. The leather stitching, the feel of the ceramic knobs, it is almost like touching a MacBook Air, irresistible. Turn up the music on the B&O sound system and you know, why you have spent more for music in the car than on your movie surround system at home.
The trunk. Big enough for that trip you always wanted to make, even if it is lasts for more than a weekend. And luckly with today's airline policies you will never be challenged on how to get one of those over-sized suitcases into it.
The front. The design of the LED lights is stunning. It just looks cool and the beams supposedly follow the road.
The side. The proportions are better than any Porsche and while being a sports car it does not announce it with furiously.
The cons. There are a few and minor deficiencies of the car that show there is still upwards potential. The trunk does not close (nor open) automatically, the center armrest in the back lacks refinement (a lot!), the graphics on the large center display are still poor, any 200$ navigation system will beat BMW's and ConnectedDrive (at least in Switzerland) is so far from being connected in any regards like your razor being connected to the Internet, except if you think that connecting your iPhone to the USB plug is a big step forward. The steering is good, there is no pull (xDrive) what so ever on it, but it could be tighter even in Sport mode (especially if you have driven the M6). The front seats are good, the ones from Volvo are still better. And expect that half the electronic assistants will shut down when it snows.
The sales. BMW sales people are as incompetent and its post-sales service (Titan) is as bad as you would expect them from a Chinese manufacturer, but luckily I will not see them ever again. It is my last car from BMW for the next years. BMW does not take responsibility....read morehide
