- Its a BMW, great handling
I just got back from a week long road trip with this new X3. I had only 500 miles on it when we started. I now have 2600 miles. Before leaving, I read all the reviews and was expecting the worst : road noise, wind noise, stiff ride, not enough power, uncomfortable seating etc etc etc. Almost none of these things happened. The power with this small 2.5 was enough for every situation - would I like a little more - sure, but it was fine. The wind and road noise weren't bad at all even at high speeds. About the stiff ride, this is a BMW, if you want a big boat that handles like a big boat, then don't buy the X3. Any vehicle that is meant to handle like a sports car cannot have an overly soft ride. The ride is stiff but not harsh and comfortable at all times. Next is the seats. I got the standard interior and these seats were great. 8 to 12 hours of driving a day and no problem. Last is the gas mileage. Ok its not great, but my first highway check on my mileage and I was getting 25 mpg. Thats with less than 1000 miles on this thing. Overall I'm very happy with my X3. You'll pay top dollar for far less optional equipment so if you like all the gadgets be prepared to pay dearly.
