I bought X3 for my wife after she totaled MB C300.
Some user review that "Ride is harsh & hard, handling is not great" honestly I don't think he/she own x3 .Unlike BMW 3 serise x3 rides soft and better and handling is great as SUV.After test drive X3 is way better than MB GLK or Audi Q5.Fit and finish is kinda ok and my wife was confused with complicated control and navigation but she is getting used to with this now.
Enough cargo space, decent MPG and easy to drive those are the best thing of x3. Power of BMW X3 28i is just fine xdrive is great on mud(havan't drive snow yet).Interior is clean and nice and planty of leg and head room.
There is a little bit of transmission lag but it is really minor as SUV and leather quality is not that great but no biggie.
She is happy with x3(she is not a fan of SUV) and I recommend to everybody who is on the market for SUV....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Traded in a fully loaded 06 X5 for the new X3. I like the SUV, but I miss the height in the X5. My husband decided that I didn't need a big truck. I don't have any problems with the SUV as yet, and I have 7,000 miles on it. I will post comments once I have driven it in the winter. Up state New York winters can be notorious. For those of you who plan on buying an X3, be aware that it does not come loaded and every thing you add on drive the price up. If you find one that has many of the things you have on your wish list , buy it. That what I did. The only thing I did not get was the navigation package....read morehide

I have owned the car for almost 2 month. I enjoyed every part of it: powerful inline engine, 8-speed transmission, smooth and quite ride, comfortable seat, great MPG, etc...... Of all, I like the Xenon headlight the most. It looks awesome at day and night. The only cons is the price. Good thing is that BMW has the 4 year free maintain cost....read morehide

- Cons
- Bad performance engine

I bought this car after a long thought and comtemplation.
The car looks really great. I carefully selected my options and took the delivery of this car.
The Idrive system is excellent, very nice and clear.
I have noticed an engine transmission lag when I start the drive from a traffic light stop. Its very irritating. This is due to the new engine N50 which really sucks. I felt BMW ripped me off on this one.
The leather interior is also very bland and the quality of leather is not great. I actually liked the AUDI Q5 better.
The overall fit and finish of X3 is not good. You will be dissapointed for sure.
There are always issues about reliability of this car.
BMW are not known to be reliable at all.
I recommend AUDI Q5 any day....read morehide0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

I waited a month before writing this review to get some experience under my belt with the X3. The vehicle has exceeded my expectations. The x3 has plenty of power and handles really well. The build quality is flawless so far and I am getting just over 29.5 miles per gal with mostly highway driving. That really surprised me! I think that anyone in this price range considering an upscale SUV should consider the X3. If you take a test drive you probably will by it....read morehide

The car has about 1000 miles on it and it has been great. My wife loves it and finds it very easy to drive. We tried other SUV's in its class, but liked the X3 the best.

We purchased new 2011 X3 28i premium package less than 2 month ago. We just did a 6 days trip with it (about 1700 miles). Overall experience was great except some reliability problems.
1. Gas mileage continuous rises from initially 19 mpg to current 25.3. My calculation is about 27-29 mpg on high way with air conditioning. It really depends on how you drive. The less aggressive (less brake you use) the more mpg you will get.
2. Handling is great as you expected from BMW.
3. At about 750 miles on this car, gear selection malfunction happened once before our trip. Later it disappeared and not happened again.
4. The 4x4 stability control malfunction happened twice when outside temperature was below 37 F. But not all the time.
5. The 240 ph version engine is a little bit weak on high way passing.
6. The very first second when you push the gas paddle, the car seems did not move.
We still were able to drive during these malfunction information happened. And we did not notice any real problem; I guess these might be software problems. But I will let dialer to check these later....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
