2008 BMW X5 User Reviews
4.8i Sports Activity Vehicle shown
- $22,052 - $26,061
- comfortable, roomy, stable, advanced technology
- navigation system, bumpy, simple wheels, hard steering
the car is good but there are a few bugaboos. the interior is roomy, comfortable and luxurious, but the navigation keeps on saying"you have arrived"instead of "arriving at destination on whatever direction"

- Interior good layout, comfortable, controls easy to use
- Entry and exit can be difficult for the eldery.poor quality GPSdisplay
This car was purchase new, 2/2/08 after 20 mls from the dealership the Electronic Damping Control malfunction 2/6/08 the car is at the dealership waiting for parts. Back up camera is very cloudy and takes about one minute for screen to clear when shifting from reverse to park or drive,I was told at the dealership that this is normal '?' I hope to drive this x5 4.8i beyond the 35mls Odometer without expecting a malfunction after every inch I travel. $70,000.00 is a lot for this kind of reliability....read morehide

- Navi package with real time traffic, comfort access, exterior and interior design, 3rd row
- fuel economy, voice commands are limited, cost of all the bells and whistles that should be standard
picked up the 2008 model 6 weeks ago. Best SUV design out there. I like the fact that you can adjust the second row seats. You can make extra leg room for the 3rd row if needed or cargo.

- Excellent Build quality, fast, strong, great features
- 6 speed transmission is not silky smooth, options are expensive
My 2008 X5 is a great car. For being a large SUV, it really (honestly) handles like a 550i sedan!
The car looks so aggressive, and the body styling is very classic BMW, and stunning.
The interior quality and materials is 7 Series quality (or better). Everything feels solid and crafted with a lot of time and commitment to quality.
The Navigation system is not hard to use, and even the i-Drive is not so scary or complicated after a week or so (it is actually pretty easy).
2 complaints for the 200 X5:
the 6 speed transmission feels rough and jerks sometimes (our 2007 750Li was like this too). Going up steep grades, the transmission will aggressively and roughly downshift hastily. Also, sometimes when slowing to make turns, or park the transmission will jerk down.
MPG is truly awful. Without kidding, I am lucky to get 8-10 MPG in the city. Not speeding, and generally gentle accelerating. Highway is about 15-17 MPG. I understand it's a heavy 4.8 liter V8 SUV, but the mileage is bad....read morehide

- Build quality, performance, comfortable, beautiful
- options/packages are expensive, and yes, yes MPG is bad
It's funny all the reviews for the 2007 X5 (especially the 4.8i) continually complain about MPG. Hello People!!!, it's a 4.8 liter V8 SUV with 350hp. You knew this when you bought it, it's not fair to rate this vehicle low because of MPG. There are times when I only get 8 mpg in the city. It's horrible, but it's a SUV.
I have a 2008 X5 4.8i, and the MSRP was around $70,000...so it does have A LOT of options and packages.
The build quality is A+, i-Drive is not that hard, the seating positions are perfect and the engine sound is so hot!!
The safety that the X5 provides is worth the price alone, and having ALL maintenance paid for 4 yr/50k miles is such a piece of mind.
The brakes feel right from the M5, and it's amazing how quickly & quietly they slow my X5. Perfect.
Radio, climate control, heated seats, Navigation and all electronincs work very easily, and with no problems....read morehide
