Lots of HP but lots of money too!!

by Yekitsu from Doral, FL (8/11/08)
Pros:Nice Looks, great highway ride and handling
Cons:Too expensive, not getting enough for that money

Great car, but too expensive. The car runs great and it's pretty fast, however I'm to change it in december for a long awaited GTR.

Vrrroooooooooommmmmm!!

by Debbie-Deb from Miami (8/09/08)
Pros:Performance, Performance, and did I say Performance?
Cons:Didn't notice any

This is a powerful car and it's not meant to be luxury so don't expect to sit in a BMW and feel like you're on your luxurious living room sofa. The seats hug you for better comfort during sharp curves. Hit the pedal and this car just goes. The 650 gives you 360hp which is more than enough for me! A very fun ride.

ight ride for the money you are spending

by kris from jersey city (8/08/08)
Pros:Engine,racing mode.
Cons:Price,performance

I test drove this last week and its not the best ride for the money you spend. My walk out price was 129k$. I rather get the new skyline.

Fantastic Car

by Chris from Atlanta (8/05/08)
Pros:SMG, Engine, Brakes, Acceleration, Huge Trunk
Cons:Poor Color Choices

I have had the M6 for over 27 months now, and I am still very pleased, especially since I put the Micheline PS2s on. Originally the car came with Contitacs, which I did not like. I was one of those "traditionalists" who wanted a 6 speed. I have driven both SMG and 6 speed versions now, and to those who still have doubts I can only say this: choose the SMG and set it to fastest sport setting, change the gears at 8200 RPM without lifting and you will not look back - ever. The SMG is definitely faster and as the paddles are attached to the steering column they follows the steering wheel so you always know where they are so you can keep both hands on the steering wheel, where they belong.

Average gas mileage over 27 months is 13.7mpg but I get 19.7 (warm)-20.2(cold)mpg on interstates. Driving hard I get around 7-8mpg.

At the BMW track in SC I have driven both the M5 and the M6, and of the two I clearly preferred the M6 due to its lower center of gravity. However, I can sit in the back seat of an M5 but not in my M6, at least not in the coupe. Both cars have their pluses and minuses. A lot of people do not realize how big, actually huge, the trunk is in the M6 coupe. The convertible will have less, especially when the top is down.

All-in-all a nice ride

by Scott from Destin, Florida (6/29/08)
Pros:handling and brakes are strong and forgiving
Cons:too little torque for the $

Other than initial problems with the car - primarily engine management, which a re-program bulletin fixed, the quality has been very good. Did a road-trip cross country and the car performed flawlessly. Also did the M Driving Experience in SC and got a chance to really push M5s all day... the brakes could not be forced to fade and the handling was outstanding for such a heavy, luxurious car. Only real flaw is the engine's lack of torque. 500 hp is great, but the drop-off in torque below 400 lb-ft is a disappointment, particularly if you drive in hilly areas or otherwise under load. I had a Jaguar (that I know I could smoke otherwise) pull away from me up a fairly steep hill in Utah... downright embarrassing. Guess all cars are pricey these days but $105k for this... well, maybe it's worth it, maybe it isn't.

Awesome everyday sports car

by Larry from North Jersey (6/18/08)
Pros:great everyday sports car, back seats
Cons:gas and transmission

I love my M6 except for the rediculous automatic transmission. I never use the automatic mode. I do however love the paddle shift. I only get 10 miles to the gallon.

The perfect sportscar with understated elegance

by BPS from Westfield NJ (5/16/08)
Pros:Looks. Oustanding performance. Comfort. Back seat is functional.
Cons:Rough ride on rutted roads, pricy compared to M5.

What can you say about a car with half the horspower of a Japanese Zero? LOL. The M6 is such a joy to drive. I have the six-speed manual so cannot comment on the SMG. It's acceleration is superb and ranks up there with the more glamourous...and much more flashy...Italian sportsters. The M6 convertible, in fact, has lines that are understaned elegance compared to Ferrari, Lambourgini or Porsche and for someone in their middle years looking for that "ubersportscar" without calling attention to themselves and having to fend off the charges of "mid-life crisis" the M6 is ideal. It's back seat really is that...a back seat. Four mid-size adults can fit in it, though I wouldn't go coats to coast like that. It corners like an F-1 and sails down the open road effortlessly. I cannot say enough about this machine. If you want a coupe and price does matter, for a 1/3 second less in 0-60 performance I would look at the less epxensive M5. For the true expression of all BMW has to offer though, M6 is the ticket. Oh and by the way...IT IS VERY VERY FAST!

A great car, great looks, great performance

by Eduardo Lamas from Riverside, CA (3/18/08)
Pros:looks very nice, good performance
Cons:mileage not too good, kinda pricy

the seats are awesome, very comfortable. the V10 really packs a punch into the performance but it also kills the mileage.expect to be at the gas station a lot. looks very sporty but price is very high.

Great value and performance!

by Zackster from Los Angeles, CA (3/03/08)
Pros:Looks and sounds great - much more comfortable and solidly built than the 650.
Cons:Guzzles gas like crazy - actually gets about 6MPG city and 11MPG highway.

I had a 2007 650i convertible and just upgraded to a special-ordered the 2008 M6 convertible. The M6 looks much nicer, is more solidly-built, and the feel of the interior is much more comfortable. The engine sounds great and the acceleration is amazing. The SMG transmission isn't as bad as I had read in some reviews, just takes a little getting used to and then the paddle shifiting is really fun - but it's nice to be able to put it in automatic mode in heavy traffic. The price wasn't bad compared to other similar performance cars (Porsche 911, etc.) and the back seat is the perfect size for my 11yo son (the 911 had almost no room even for a child) so it's a great "family sports car."

BMW M6 review

by H.A. from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (3/02/08)
Pros:Looks, rather comfortable, avrg sized prsn fits in the back, relativly good trunk space, luxurious
Cons:0-60 mph in 4.6 is only achieved with all setting on max, needs oil top up quite often

One thing that really set me back after buying this car, is the fact that it is not as fast as i assumed when accelerating from 0, unless the Throttle Launch Control is active (which apparently can only be used x number of times before the clutch needs to be changed) as the engine's max torque is released at a rather late stage.
However, having said that, a rolling start acceleration is a compltely different story.
The adjustments that the car has makes it ideal for an everyday car. As the power settings can make it adjust its feel for your mood.
The car is comparable to DB9, Bently Conti GT, CL, Maserati GT, as these are all 2+2 coupe's that mix luxury with sport.
