2009 Buick Enclave

- Posh, comfortable, quiet, spacious
- software glitches, engine trouble
Purchased As New
I bought the car new, loved it for the first 3 months and from that point on, it's in every three months for a new battery. Apparently, there is a software issue that drains the battery (I have the full package with Nav, entertainment, and back-up camera). It is currently in the shop as we speak having the engine removed for a known timing chain problem...at 22K miles. I have spent more time in the shop with this vehicle than any other vehicle I have owned. It's beautiful and everything I could possibly want in a car, but its been a nightmare to own. I've decided to trade the vehicle as soon as I get it back. Very disappointed....read morehide

- Honestly, haven't discovered anything that I consider negative

After looking at the GMC Acadia and unable to make a satisfactory deal, I turned my attention to the Enclave--and I am so glad that I did. I enjoy the quiet and comfortable drive. I typically get about 22-23 miles per gallon on the highway which is much better than my old GMC truck. The quiet drive is also a plus. The suspension is more than adequate and the ride is smooth and comfortable. The car has good pickup and cruising power. I am also quite pleased with the appearance of the vehicle. Even though it has been on the market for a couple years, it is still a head-turner....read morehide

We have had two enclaves, and he have owned many other suv's and
crossovers on the market. This is the best by far. The car has crossed over in many ways. The look is sleeker than the denali types and easier to manover. It offers more leg room and more storage area in the rear, yet is smaller look from the exterior. The mostly glass front and rear sunroofs are very nice and the seating is great all around. Over all very nice. The 6 cyl engine has ample pickup but its not the 8 cyl but we need to think Green and so it works. Buick's biggest negitive is the show rooms and service centers are stuck in the 70's and the service is not as refined as a Lexus. Over all Buick has tried hard and it shows. I give it a high recommendation....read morehide

I've had my Enclave for 10 days so far and I do not have any complaints or problems. The ride quality is excellent, it is just about the most elegant crossover on the road, it is exceptionally quiet and the fuel efficiency is great. In regard to the blind spots I added blind spot mirrors on both side mirrors as well as the rear view mirror which comes in very handy. The interior is brilliantly crafted and although I do not use the DVD system it may come in handy one day. I certainly would recommend the Enclave to any potential buyer. I strongly recommend that the car be judged based on its merits and not on the basis that it is an "American car." It is a wonderfully made "American car" and just in case those who don't think for themselves forget - no car is perfect - they all have negatives. It just so happens that the Enclave is leading the pack in quality and elegance....read morehide

- excellent ride handling - the best I have ever owned- tops our Caddy
- A little difficult for my wife to see out of. she is short and has to adjust seat up to see clearly
This car has proved to be the best and most enjoyable car we have ever owned. The ride is unbelievable. It handles exceptional. The AWD has adverse weather well. I thought this would come close to Caddy performance when we bought it, however it has exceeded any previous Caddys we owned. My brother in law loves it and he doesn't ever have anything good to say about GM products. Wish fuel economy was a little better in mixed driving conditions....read morehide

- Great exterior and interior styling. Very elegant interior that puts sister versions to shame.
- 4-way power lumbar adjustment and heated windshield wiper fluid have been deleted on 2009 models.
Incredibly quiet. Nice mix of options. Better than the Cadillac Escalade for $10K less. Rear visability is limited, so rear camera is a must. The Enclave could benefit greatly from a Side Blind Spot Warning system available on some other GM high-end vehicles. When viewed from the side, too much undercarridge shows, such as the exhaust system. Appearance would be greatly enhanced by a two-inch wide flat black skirt under the rocker panels. If Buick doesn't come up with such a skirt accessory package, the aftermarket should. Steering wheel height adjustment needs more upward movement range. Drivers over 5' 11" must lower the seating position to adequately view the instruments. Instrument panel is attractive, but not the easiest read. GM needs to upgrade the navigation system to the latest version that uses an internal hard drive for data storage rather than a DVD-powered system. Navigation system used on the Cadillac CTS is far more user friendly and informative (it should be a GM standard design across all GM lines that offer nav....read morehide

- Buick is back! I great looking vehicle with AWD and plenty of room.
- Nothing to wipe off the back up camera while driving.
WOW! We have had our 2009 AWD Enclave CXL for a little over a month now and couldn't be more pleased. My wife wanted her own car that would fit all our kids AND look good. She tested all the fully-loaded 8 passenger vehicles including the Tribeca, CX9, Veracruz, Acadia, etc. and initially salivated over the Enclave's luxury but the pricetag drove us away. Several months later, after still not finding the right vehicle, I made her try out the Enclave because I figured a few thousand more was well worth it when we were ready to spend $35K anyway. OnStar is nice as well as the GPS, but the ease of accessing the 3rd row, the double skylight/sunroof, the backup camera, and the smooth and quiet ride (not the old "boat" feel though) really confirm that Buick has come of age once again. Nearly everyday my wife comes home to tell me someone else commented about how nice the car is--which only strokes her ego more (which, admittedly most of us look for in a new car)! We also have a Toyota Sienna. Although it does have more cargo room than the Enclave (because of the empty well for the rear seats to fold into) the Buick is a much smoother and quieter, and more responsive drive. It handles supperbly on ice and snow, which is important to me since we live with it 5-6 months of the year!...read morehide

- Space, Ride, Quiet, Value, Styling
- Sluggish Transmission Climbing Grades
Enclave is the real deal at a great price! Never thought I would buy a GM vehicle after many years of Japanese and German vehicles. Considered MDX, R350, XC90 and Q7, but they couldn't beat the value of the Enclave. Fully loaded at $40K with great styling, smooth quiet ride and the seating space of a mini-van. Recently got 24 mpg on a 1500 mile trip driving 75 mph. Only minor complaint is with the transmission, which is sometimes slow to downshift when climbing grades. Check Enclave out! You will be pleasantly surprised as I was!...read morehide
