- Comfort, Cabin quietness, and styling
- 17,000 miles: 21 hwy miles per gallon,Dash board noise, wiper sprayers sprays down at highway speeds
I have driven 17,000 miles in 7 months and have experienced terrible highway mileage. 21 miles per gallon at speeds between 70-75 mph. I travel on I-75,I-96,I-69,M-131,and M-127 in Michigan.
Dash board squeeks all the time.
At speeds greater than 45 mph the left wind shield wiper sprayer sprays down.
Water gathers along the outside of the drivers side window. Hard to see the side view mirrors during this time.
The painted metal piece that covers the gas tank freezes in place at low temps....read morehide

- transmission is greatly improved, quiet with windows closed, nice ride
- visability of instruments is BAD in daytime. I thought the LeSabre was bad but this is worse
I traded in a LeSabre LS for this Lucerne. This car has tremendous appeal BUT not being able to read the dials during daytime sunlight is downright dangerous. The window posts for the windshield are uniqely designed to give the greatest obstruction when checking to the right for traffic. I won't consider another Buick until they correct these problems....read morehide

- Smoothest, quietest ride I have ever experienced, 1st 600 mi 22.5 mpg in LA traffic
I really researched and since I drive 300 mi per month wanted and got a quiet comfortable ride with plenty of power to pull grades. Love that On Star!

- Great ride, very quite excellent looking interior
- gas mileage poor but only have 1200 miles on it so I imagine it will imporove as the car get older
We loved the 2006 Buick Lucerne CXL so well that we bought two of them at the same time. I've been a GM owner since 1957 and the Buick Lucerne is the best GM car that I have driven including Cadillac.
It has the ride and quietness of the Lexus and is a Luxury car without the Luxury price.

- good fuel economy for a big car, highway passing power
- ugly front end, tons of torque steer, lists like a boat in the corners
I lived with this car for about a week as a rental and put on over 1,100 miles. The torque steer combined with loads of under steer makes this Buick a real pain in tight corners with speed such as freeway entrance and exit ramps. At freeway straight-line cruising, this car excels. Low speed in town driving is very good but the car balance is easily upset when the roads get rough. In several occasions, rough roads caused the car to dart quickly to the right or left which put me dangerously close to other drivers. This car would be so much better as a rear wheel drive car with a top quality traction control.
Interior creature comforts are fantastic for long road trips. Make sure if you buy one that your dealer spends a great deal of time going over all of the buttons as they can be confusing. I had to figure out on my own how to operate the remote starter (the instructions are on the back of the remote!). The radio is another lacking area. Most folks that aren't too picky will think its fine. Those of you that enjoy higher quality audio will want to replace the Harmon Kardon system ASAP. The bass is either non-existent or way too overbearing - never just right. The vocals and cymbals were also dull and flat or too shrill. The EQ settings were horrible sounding. For those of you that decide to keep the factory radio - do yourself a favor; immediately turn OFF that annoying speed sensitive volume control.
Overall, not a bad car but, not something that I would own. Before you invest your $$, do your homework and drive all that there is out there. Take them all on a variety of speeds, corners, freeways, rough roads, etc. Drive front wheel drive cars like this one, rear drive cars like the Chrysler 300/Dodge Magnum & Ford Crown Vic/Mercury. Doesn't hurt to drive a few foreign makes either. My point is that this is an OK car but there are alot of GREAT cars out there for same/similar dollars. Happy hunting!...read morehide

- beautiful car, great ride
- only one small complaint - no cargo net - large trunk - needs net
the lucerne is the first brand new car i have ever owned, and well worth it. after shopping around for a different car for a year i rode in a friends lucerne, the back seat no less, and knew it was the car i had been looking for. talked to a dealer and was going to wait for an executive return to come in to get a better price. a month or so after deciding on the lucerne the dealer calls with a couple of rebates plus our gm points that brought the new car price down to what a used one would have cost. couldn't pass it up. love the looks, the ride, the complements....read morehide

- smooth ride, comfort. 4year warranty,Remote start, Cooled seats, Stereo is amazing, Onstar
- Little gripes like trunk release is in glove compartment
I have been searching for months for a new car. I tested many cars and it was between the Toyota Camry and the Buick CXL. The Buick rides smoother than the Camry and I had a hard time tracking down a Camry XLE V6 in the color I wanted. GM's zero percent financing pushed me over the fence. You can erase and preconceived notions you may have about Buick. This is one fantastic car. Just drive one and you will see. There are times where I cannot tell if the engine is running so I have to press slightly on the accelerator. The quiet tunning really works. There is no road noise. Remote start and air conditioned seats are amazing. The NAvigation with the 9 speaker Harmon Kardon option sounds incredible!! XM radio is great! Onstar is a cool feature. Standard 4 year warranty show's Buick has confidance in the product they are selling....read morehide

- Lots of standard features
I enjoy driving my Buick, better than any Japanese car. It's a great American driving machine.

- Very sharpe exterior, Interior feels and looks like it's a 50 k vehicle. Smooth and quiet ride
- Dual exhaust should come standard, Interior o/h trim looks cheap, No Ebony interior on CXL V6
This car just looks sharpe. Paint is smooth and bright, Exterior design is as good as any car I've seen out there. The Port Holes add a cool look that other std vehicles don't have. The ride is smooth and quiet and it's ride at 85 feels like your going 55.
The Lucerne is made on the same line as the Cadillac DTS in Hamtramck and gets all the same quality checks. This car is virtually a much more expensive Caddy...
This is the best car out there for under 50k. I love mine......read morehide
