I have not decided to sell or trade in my 1998 Buick Park Avenue. I love this car. I have just over 90,000 miles on it. Never have had a problem other than to replace the battery and I just recently put new tires on all around. When I decide to purchase another car it will be a Buick Park Avenue. Very clean. No rust. had it detailed this year. IF I decide to purchase anothe car it will not be before 2012. It scares me to think I'll not find another as good as this one!...read morehide

Purchased As Used
I bought this car with 13,000 miles in May of 2005. Sadly, on January 26, 2011 with only 109,000 miles on it the insurance company totaled it. In the almost 6 years I've driven it it has held up well with only one issue. A Fuel Pressure regulator would act up only on the first start after re-fueling...........a simple $34.00 part a buddy put in for free.
The only maintenance done was new tires, front & rear brakes, rear brake rotors (rusted beyond salvage), A battery in 2008 and Spark Plugs and a Serpentine Belt at 100,000 miles.
Numerous Oil & Filter changes, Transmission Oil & filter every year and gas filter too.
The car would get as high as 31 mpg on the highway. The car rode great and never had a problem. The only gripe with the Park Avenue is the roof curving down over the front seat. Hats got knock off the head turning sideways and sometimes they would catch between the ceiling & sunvisor.
THis is the 2nd best car I ever owned, #1 is my 1991 Bonneville with 324,000 miles.
I'm on the hunt for another 2005 or 2004....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Traction, fuel economy, price
- Cons
- others complain of little nuances
Is it only me or this car looks like the XJ8 Jaguar that costs about 100 grand? When Europeans and Japanese boasted about traction I reminded them Buick had been building effective front wheel drive full size cars for years--with outstanding brakes. The 3800 engine is the only American built engine I've driven that has given me the advertised or more MPG's in real life driving than the EPA sticker indicated. GM provided Jay Leno with a 1,000 Horse Power engine. Maybe they can provide Buick with a 400 horse power and fuel efficient engine (do not repeat, do not try to revive the gas guzzler used in the Olds Aurora which provided only 250HP). In this Buick you can ride in the lap of luxury while appearing ecologically (read fuel) responsible and paying a lot less than one pays for gas guzzling SUV's; not to mention Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, etc....read morehide

- Pros
- good fuel economy, comfortable, great traction in snow, great audio reflects Buick's heritage.
- Cons
- needs to be "broken in" carefully.
Park Avenue has performed in the manner expected. It is an eye catcher and with the supercharged engine it is very responsive and yet very fuel efficent.(29 miles to gallon on highway) Well balanced and correct truly a car for those who want quality and savings. Braking is straight and true along with abs and stability control and traction control handles the road very well....read morehide

- Pros
- Excellent on fuel - I average 28.9 overall
- Cons
- There are no "cons" to the Park Avenue
This is my 7th Park Avenue in 15 years as I normally trade every two years. Not that there is anything wrong with the current Park Avenue that I own; I just like NEW! This by far is just the best car and it would be a shame if Buick were to ever drop this model. I am "in love"!

- good fuel economy
-this 05 buick park avenue has a vibration at speeds over 65 mph which seem to come and go. We have owned 3 buicks and all have been good. This one is a lemon and my wife says it must go.

Cannot say enough about the Park Avenue. In over fifty years it's the single best performing car I have ever owned.

- Pros
- Has comfortable seats, reasonable gas mileage, spacious
- Cons
- a vibration at speeds over 65 mph even though new tires on and rebalanced
In a heavy rain, the radiator fan sounds like it picks up water from the road and causes the fan to be unbalanced when it is running. This causes a tremendous noise and vibration on the floor of the car! (This is a different vibration) Also have wind noise from the "moon roof" that is especially annoying on the passenger side. The driver's door sticks so bad that it is hard to pull or push open in cold weather. The gaskets get too firm! After a visit with the service manager for our state, we got no satisfaction The car has only about 2600 miles on it and is a big problem! Have owned four Buicks but this one is a "Lemon"!...read morehide

I LOVE THE CAR ALONG WITH THE PERFORMANCE AND THE LUXERY APPOINTMENTS. I HAVE ONLY ONE PROBLEM THAT MY DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX AND THAT IS THE DRIVER IDENTIFICATION ON THE DIC. DRIVER 1 DRIVES THE CAR AND THEN LOCKS IT, DRIVER 2 UNLOCKS IT AND AFTER STARTING THE CAR IT IDENTIFIES DRIVER 1 INSTEAD OF 2...read morehide

I drove it non-stop from San Francisco to Los Angeles which is around 500 miles. No back pain or fatigue. I was amazed with its gas mileage. No refueling was required.
I was a Lexus mania but no more.6 out of 6 people found this review helpful.
