2006 Buick Rendezvous

- AWD Handling
- Just a little to small
Purchased As Used
I owned a 2006 AWD Rendevous and absolutely loved it. Other cars struggled in the winter and mine wasn't even strained with the AWD. There wasn't anywhere I couldn't go to in the winter. I recently traded it off. I looked at the Enclave but it was way to big. The Encore was way to small. I settled for a Dodge Journey. It's a good size but I have a serious case of sellers remorse and I so wish I had my Rendevous back. I really hope Buick brings back a slighted tweaked version of it SOON....read morehide

- VERY comfortable and luxurious. I LOVE THIS SUV!
- not that great on highway gas, back haych is VERY heavy and hard to close
I had a fuly loaded Hyundai Santa FE which I loved. The miles were creeping up in it and I wanted someting reliable, economical and with the same features my Santa Fe had. I researched SUV's for months and even stopped people at gas stations and parking lots asking them about different vehicles. All research pointed to the Rendezvous. I bought a CXL fully loaded and I absolutely love it. It's so much nicer than the Santa Fe. The ride is heavy and the cabin is extremely quiet. Sound system is awesome. All the gadgets are awesome. I am still figuring out the OnStar and integrated hands free phone system. Everybody who gets in my Buick can't believe how beautiful the interior is and how smooth the ride is. The 3rd row seating is a must for kids too. They love sitting back there in their own little world. :-)
I highly recommend this vehicle....read morehide

- Incredible mpg for AWD vehicle, have used it in heavy snow and it performed wello
- roof rack is weak, I put on a GM heavy duty and its great
I bought this with 6K miles on it, and I have been very impressed with the Rendezvous. Has best cargo space in the class. AWD has performed well in snow. Ride is good, gas mileage on trips is consistently 27/28 which is comparable to a Subaru with twice the space. I have the smaller 6 cyl and it performs well. I opted out of the 3rd row seat and cannot see why anyone would want it unless its for a team van. No storage after the 3rdrow, top storage without it.
I have towed a boat with it and its performed well. A friend of mine who sells Chevrolets said the Rendezvous sells well against other vehicles in its class and has probably saved Buick from extinction. I am guessing there will be a body style remake in 2008 to lure new sales from happy owners looking for next upgrade. Priced well, performs well. Its about what you want, I wanted AWD, some space, a good roof rack for my kayak and some comfort, decent mpg. Got all of that with a Buick, who'da thunk it....read morehide

- Beautiful, comfortable, lots of room, nice options
I actually have a 2002 Rendezvous. I love the look of it and the interior comfort BUT I have had sooooooo many problems with this car! Buyer Beware! I have replaced 7 hub bearings in the 4 years that I've had this car -- obviously more than once in some cases. The first 3 times were covered under warranty, the other 4 were not -- and it is an expensive and time consuming repair! In November of 2005, the car was in the shop for the entire month and the bill was over $5000 to replace 2 hub bearings, head gasket, power steering pump and cruise control plus some other smaller items. Luckily I purchased an extended warranty for $1800 but it was well worth the cost as I have more than quadrupled my investment on this... something you may want to seriously consider if you own a Rendezvous! We have been looking to buy a new car and our local GM dealer told me that the "VersaTrak system is junk"....read morehide

- I cannot find one good thing with this vehicle
- Take your pick...
We bought this vehicle slightly used in February of 2006, we had problems the very first day!! It has a cooling system issue that still has not been worked out. The vehicle also needs complete replacement of both front and rear axles due to a clutch problem. The parts are not available for the dealer to get so they cannot fix the car, and we are stuck driving an unsafe vehicle!! Also, the dealer(YATES BUICK) in Avondale Az is by far the worst experience I have ever had when it comes to service. If I was GM I would pull the dealership away from MIKE YATES and try to save what is left of the dealer's reputation. Every person I know will hear about this and I will advocate against General Motors for the rest of my natural life....read morehide

- Good fuel economy, smooth ride, handles great.
- I wish it had more power
I rented this car while working in Florida for a few months and fell in love with it. When I got home the wife and I decided we had to have one. We purchased one in late May and with exception of wanting a little more power we love it.

- Style, comfort, convenience options are great! Sharp looking car!
- Front seat headrests are a bit too big-hard to see around when you back up.
We just bought a pre-owned(6 months old) 2006 Rendezvous CXL, and we love it! My father has a 2003 CX Plus, and we have driven it quite a bit, and that is how we got stuck on this car. These crossover SUVs are great. We have had 2 vans over the years which were great when our children were small, but now are in college, so this is just the right size. The Rendezvous drives like a car, but can carry loads like a minivan. If you are looking for a good alternative to a minivan, this is it!!!...read morehide

- Comfy, luxurious, fuel economy, sound system, seating, safe, mindless maintenance
- Only looks good in solid colors, can be viewed as a "Mini Van", Bit Pricy
I rented one after a wreck and fell in love with the smooth ride, comfort and roominess of this car. It became an obsession to find one in all black (difficult in the Las Vegas desert) finally splurged and bought the 2007 CXL with all the perks. I love it soooooooooo much! Best car I have ever driven! Beats any other luxury car. I drive a minimum of a 100 miles a day in HOT Las Vegas traffic. This car is like an oasis. Great on gas. Lacks initial "Get Up" but makes up for it in the smooth ride. Like floating on a cloud.
All you Moms say goodbye to the typical Mini Van and go for this luxury SUV on a car frame. VERY SAFE air bags galore, passenger air bag will not activate if rider is under 100lbs. Engine drops in front end collision so as to not injure anyone in the front cabin.
Can't imagine EVER owning another car!...read morehide

- Seats sit high off the floor, the parking aid and stereo contols on the steering wheel are great.
- Not enough room for infant car seats.
This car has many great features: it is comfortable, it rides smoothly, I love the parking aid, the radio controls are on the steering wheel, it has plenty of storage, and, oddly enough I appreciate that the seats sit high off of the floor more like a truck than a car.
All of the ammenities can't compensate for the problems, though. My windshield wipers used to come on and stay on and the dealership could never figure out why. Fortunately it just stopped on its own within about 6 months. I bought my Rendezvous brand new and ended up replacing the tires incredibly early because the alignment was so far off, but alignment is only warrantied for the first 12,000 miles. So much for bumper-to-bumper. It has always had a moaning noise which grew unbelievably loud as time went on. I took it to a friend who went to the GM dealer site and entered the symptoms. It was an easy problem to solve fortunately, but for a couple years I was told it was the transmission, but it wasn't. Did you know there is a place GM dealerships can log onto that has HUNDREDS of common problems that they never tell us about? And if you don't catch it before your warranty is up tough luck. My airbag light is on and my AWD is turned off but no one can figure out why, plus something is wrong with the floater in my gas tank, some gasket that was expensive to replace went bad, the handle on the hatch broke within the first year, and the drums have been "slinging grease" for a year but the problem is so common that the parts are on back order. I've had other GM vehicles before but I've never had so many problems....read morehide

- not equiped with the transaxle safety lock
My 2 year old child was recently able to pull the shift lever from the parked position causing the vehicle to roll backwards and crash. This vehicle is not equipped with the transaxle safety lock feature that would have prevented the crash that my children were in, and GM refuses to take responsibilty for this....read morehide
