2008 Cadillac DTS User Reviews
Luxury III shown
- $14,030 - $16,400
- A Screaming American V8, Great ride, Lot Of Room, E-ENORMOUS trunk!
- Handling could be better*, Stereo needs to be better for $50K car standard, C'Mon GM...
This car made me very impressed with Cadillac's advances in building cars. It's not the old Boats of the 70's or the Tin they made in the 80's or 90's (remember the Catera? naaahh why would you?)
Love the car, the ride is great, driving it is a pleasure and owning it even more. Sure I think it could handle better but it is a BIG car. I would not trade off the ride for some handling though*... so just remember it's a Luxury car with some great performance.
They got it right for me....read morehide

- Cheap price!
- Electrical problems, battery problems, ...
A word of advice. Stay clear of this car. Yes the used car price might be tempting BUT there is a reason why it is so cheap.
I will not list the numeours problems I have with this car, but will only mention the main ones:
1- Battery dies if car left not run for a week or so!
2- Wierd vibration when shifting into 4th gear!
3-Transmission lags. When shifing from N to D it takes longer than usual for the tranny to engage!
4-BAD fuel ecenomy AND LOW performance (272HP????)
and NO my car is not old. It is 2007 with 18 k miles on it.
It is a nice piece of machinary to cherish and KEEP in your garage but if you plan on driving it and using it regulalry, this may not be your best choice!
I was shocked that my problems with this car are actually SHARED by other owners of the same car. The intimate relshionship you will have with the dealer and the frequent visits you will make are probably Cadiallac's way of saying WE LOVE YOU and we hate NOT to see you every couple of months....read morehide

- Very good fit and finish. Comfortable, quiet, roomy. Good handeling for size.
- Needs a modern 6 speed auto transmision.
Under appreciated value, but depreciation is a detraction. GM seems to have gotten it right on this car. Attention to detail, overall quality, fit, and finish are all very good by any standard. The only technical short comming is the lack of a 6 speed transmision in this price range car. Overall, I prefer the front wheel drive, which is best for 99.99% of real world driving....read morehide

- comfortable leather seats, killer sound system, lots of stares
- fuel economy, depreciation
I bought the Performance level trim of the DTS. What a head turner. There are not many on the road, so this car gets noticed, especially with it's chrome wheels. I've had this 2006 for almost 2 years and have 50,000 miles on it and have not had one problem with this fine car. Comsumer Reprts magazine named it a best buy and it's true. I've had german cars for years and this is my first Cadillac, I must say I more than expressed and surprised how much I love this automobile....read morehide

- COMFORTABLE, CLASSY, ROAD-WORTHY
I was considering a 2008 purchase. When I compared this to my 2007, I did not notice ANY changes. This is similar to what I experienced previously with the BUICK PARK AVENUE.
I had also driven the following: LEXUS, BMW, MERCEDES, & LINCOLN. By far, CADILLAC is way ahead of these automobiles as far as looks, handling, trunk space, and "gadgets." This car is absolutely beautiful, and had GM made some noticeable changes, I would be ordering a 2008 CADILLAC DTS iii.
I am going to wait for the 2009's, at which time, based on my current yearly mileage, my 2007 will have ap-
proximately 30K. I'll keep this car and will order the 2009 in a different color.
Maybe by then GM will offer a color combination avail-
able ONLY on CADILLAC....read morehide

- Excellent power, great ride/handling, comfortable seats and its a Cadillac!
- Honestly still trying to find some...
I went out looking for a car and I first drove a new Lexus ES and was disapointed. After driving imports for the last 20 years I never thought I would be back to a Cadillac. I drove a few other under-impressive cars and decided on the DTS. The Cadillac provided a huge interior and drove like a much smaller car than it actually was. The performance package with magnetic ride control drove like a BMW 5 Series I drove. And I got all the toys and Tuscany leather for under 53,000 grand! Try that in a BMW or Lexus! The DTS also had a huge trunk plenty big for all my cross county trips. I have put 5,000 miles on mine already and am loving it. If you haven't considered a Cadillac you crazy not too. They are back!...read morehide

- Good Fuel Economy, Great ride/handling, Excellent freeway pickup and performance!
- The car could use a little more power. Not that 292hp is enough!
I was in the market for a fullsize luxury sedan. I promised my family of 4 I was going to get a car that everyone could fit in. Stepping up from a 2004 Camry XLE that didn't have enough room as my family kept growing wasn't practical. Also it was my first and last Toyota, all the new Toyota models had a cheap feeling and also didn't have the best of luck with! My wife begged me to get a new Avalon but frankly after the test drive I was left under impressed. I have driven Chevrolet trucks all my life and I checked up my Chevrolet dealer that also sold Caddilacs. I drove in an STS and like it but the RWD in a midwest winter wasn't going to be pretty and AWD pushed me way above 50K with the features I wanted. Then I tryed out a white diamond with black leather interior DTS performance and feel in love. My Camry even with the V6 had no where near the amount of giddy up this Cadillac DTS with the NHP Northstar V8 had. My wife wanting another Toyota was smitten with it. My DTS had two options on top of the performance package the navigation system and a sunroof. I was buying this car for my wife after-all I drive a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Z60 LTZ 4X4 w/the 5.3L Flex Fuel V8. In the end I was glad we got the DTS over the Avalon. If you are in the market for an excellent quality luxury sedan that is almost as big as a Lexus LS or 7 Series the DTS is your car. Also I drove a Town Car for comparison there was none. The DTS balances price, and performance something the Germans have yet to learn. I think my next vehicle will be a CTS for a fun car!...read morehide
