2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV User Reviews

- Great style, comfort, and power. Unlike anything on the road in the luxury field.
- Gas consumption and some less than top-of-the-line interior refinements
We are a family of 4 but frequently have company that travels with us so room, comfort, and power were key drivers in buying it. Great styling goes without question. We had a Suburban before but loved what Cadillac did with it.
It is by far the best car we have owned and we have test driven Lincolns, BMWs, Audis, Lexus, and Benz and there is a reason the Escalade remains the benchmark of this class....read morehide

- Beautiful, comfortable, lots of power, lots of room
- plastic wood grain, fading head lamp lenses,
2003 ESV. I now have 70,000 miles on it. Still runs great and looks brand new. however the muffler shield now rattles and the head lamp lenses are starting to fade. The interior looks the same as the chevy and GMC models. I feel the cadillac should be all original to, ...well...Cadillac. Especially for the price. The plastic wood grain looks good...but of course is plastic..Even our Freightliners have real wood for dash trim. The transmission is just now starting to shift a little rough during acceleration from breaking. Once in a while the ideling will drop below 500 RPM when ideling and turning from a stop, (makes you think it may cut off but doesnt). Other than that I have been well pleased. I would buy another. However, I do not like the new 07 body style... Again.. looks like the new Chevy and GMC. Not over impressed with the new interior either. But doesnt matter. I put 212,000 miles on my last vehicle before this one and plan to do the same with this, providing it is capable of it. By that time maybe Cadillac will have come out with a ESV styled as much to my liking as the 03 model that I have....read morehide

I just bought my escalade a couple of weeks ago, and I am really LOVING it!! Nothing negetive to say about the vehicle except that it uses up gas. But I knew that before I bought it. I highly recommend it to anyone!!

- Beautiful, luxurious, lots of room & good for long trips
- Sucks up the gas
I just traded in my 2004 Escalade for a 2006 Escalade ESV. I decided not buy the Platinum edition because the standard equipment was too overpriced. For example, Cadillac adds 20" rims for a ridiculous price. I have 24's that I bought for $3400. I think the smallest rim size on such a big SUV should be 23". Also, the two TV's in the Platinum edition are too small for such a big SUV. I took my 15" flipdown & 4 headrest TV's out of my trade-in to add to my new ESV. I bought my flipdown & DVD player for $800. I believe Cadillac charges $1300 for a tiny flipdown & DVD player. I would advise anyone considering the Platinum edition to just buy the ESV base model & add the aftermarket accessories yourself for much less $$$. Good aftermarket brands offer warranties. I like how I can keep my 3rd row in & still have loads of room! I have a big speaker for my sound system back there along with groceries, shopping bags, my dogs, ect. It's great for long trips, especially with the reclining captain chairs in the 2nd row. I wasn't too fond of the original grille, so I put an aftermarket chrome grille on. I would also suggest to buy a 2006 before the 2007 models come out. The 2007 models aren't that great looking. I think the 2007 models look too futuristic. The headlights & tailights are much thinner on the 2007 models. Great for a stay at home Mom, like myself, or an older couple. I mostly chaperone my two children around town & run errands. I bought a dog ramp & a cargo dog bed to put my huge Chow/Lab/Rottweiler mix in the back. He sits comfortably back there, even with the 3rd row in. I wasn't able to take my dog to the vet in my old Escalade, simply because there wasn't enough room. I'm hoping that the next time I go to Reno, NV. during the winter I'll be able skip the cables on the tires, since they are a pain & this is an AWD vehicle. The only con is the gas mileage. It really is a gas sucker. But the gas problem is dealable since it is so great in many other ways. All in all, this is my favorite SUV over the regular Escalade & the Lincoln Navigator (another SUV I previously owned before the Escalade). It was deffidently worth every penny!...read morehide
