- Power, Looks, Convenience, Handling, Third Row seat, very car-like
- Blah dashboard, Nav system requires time to learn, front seats, gremlins in Ultraveiw moonroof
I will start with the bad, which is not all that bad. I bought my 2006 SRX maxed out with DVD/Nav, Ultraveiw moonroof, AWD, Magnetic Ride control, third row power seating, towing package, ect.
The 2006 model comes with a dash board that is less than inviting. The large center pod, though functional, is not good looking. This was replaced with a much better dashboard/center pod design for the 2007 model. The front seats are intially confortable, but tend to fatigue the "derriere" during long commuting. The Ultraveiw moonroof is very impressive, but my car's one touch button to close the moonroof still does not work requiring to hold the button ( 5 to 10 seconds) until the moonroof is closed. There is also a "thunck" noise that occurs after the roof is closed that bothers my wife. Cadillac is currently working on this problem. Poor depreciation. If you buy it new, keep it. Very good value if bought slightly used.
The Good, this thing moves and looks good going it! Handling is sports car like without being harsh. Not problem getting on California freeways and stops on a dime.
After mastering the Nav, found it very useful. Impressed the overall workmanship, not raddles or clanks. Power liftgate and third row seating is very good for busy mom. My wife loves the Onstar and car phone feature that was intergrated with our verizon cellular account. Dealership very helpful, free rental car provided if service takes longer than a couple if hours.
I get about 16.5 to 17 MPG. What do you expect from a Hi-performance V-8.
Unless you need to impress with Mercedes GL/ML, Lexus or BMWX5, you couldn't go wrong with this car....read morehide

- Great comfort, fantastic handling, fair mileage for a large v8 16.5mpg around town 23mpg hgwy
- not many add=ons avaiable
Best car yet owned. Prev. had a Lexus and a DeVille, The SRX far out performs both. The 320hp v8 is great, uses no oil and I burn regular unleaded.

- great performance, excellent suspension, 3rd row setting, quite ride, solid build
- fit and finish not audi or lexus-like, AWD drinks lots of fuel
So far my wife and I love the car. We bought it new ( 0.0% financing) and promply put 5000 minles on the car. The diamond white exterior color is beautiful. The seats could have more lateral support ( especially if your use to driving german cars like we are) but very comfortable for short and long trips. The Nav system is simple to use and the steering column and pedals are adjustable for maximum driving comfort. Bose sound system outstanding.
What really sold the car ( outside of the 0.0% financing) was the optional power 3rd row seating. We have two young children. Frequently we have friends or family come and visit. It's very convenient to be able to seat 7 comfortably without having to take two cars. This is an option not found in the BMW X3, X5 and to get it in a Q7, you are spending and extra ten to twenty grand.
The SRX is very car like. The V8 is very responsive and powerful, the suspension handles very tightly, more sports car-like.
If only GM could spend alittle more time with the finer details of interior design and finish. It's not that the SRX interior is ugly, it just seems that a better design would produce a better fit and finish. The 2007 Escalade interior is a perfect example....read morehide
