- Very comfortable, nice performance and ride. I Love it!
- Should have rear sensors as standard equipment.
After about a month of ownership, this truck has impressed me. Very comfortable to drive, strong performance and lots of room. It really is nicer than a pickup but still has a nice size bed for things. Took it camping with the family and dog and we had plenty of room for everything, which we did not have in our Ford Explorer. I have the LT model and I am quite happy I got that - with the power leather seats, DVD player and other niceties make this a pleasure to drive. I got the front windows tinted and sitting in traffic in 100 degree heat is quite confortable while listening to my XM radio (and I'm definitely keeping that too). The gas mileage isn't good, but certainly not as bad as I had feared. On the highway I actually got over 20, and 15-16 around town (so far at least). At first I thought the steering was a little loose compared to other vehicles, but after driving it awhile it actually handles well, and it has that stability control too.
The cons - because of the high bed size, it should include rear sensors as standard equipment. Something that I will add aftermarket though. The parking break is annoyingly in the way it seems. The brakes take some getting used to but they do work well....read morehide

- power, comfort, room, and ride
This is my first avalanche and I love it. It has plenty of power and is a very smooth riding vehicle. I have the 1500 4x4 and would buy it again if I was looking for a new truck/suv. It is the ultimate vehicle for the price. Gas mileage is decent for a truck I am getting around 14mpg in town have not taken it on the highway yet just back and forth to work. The back bed cover is easy to remove and takes no time at all. I would suggest this vehicle to anyone looking at a truck or suv. Don't judge it tell you try it. hope this helps...read morehide

- The mid gate only
- Truck is a gas hog and can not haul any weight at all, girls car.
Would not buy again, this so called truck can not even pull my 3400 lb. boat without shifting back and forth between gears constantly at any speed above 45 mph. Good car for the wife to shop in really not much of a truck at all. Makes a good girls make belive truck. I wasted good money on this so called truck, won't do that again....read morehide

- great performance Excellent ride
I recently purchased my second Avalanche,I previously owned a 2002 model.
Susspension is much a better ride.Being an auto mechanic this always helps.
The pick-up is excellent the overall LT package is great.Vehicle rides like a passenger car,But it's a truck.
The vehicle does not get the best mileage but remember it is a V-8 engine.
To improve performance add a KN air filter you won't believe the difference
until you try it It is well worth the 40.00.
I hope this information helps people who are interested in buying one....read morehide

- This truck has it all!
I have owned 4 truck now and have to say that this one id the best. I was recluctant to trade in my Silverado on anything till wife said she wanted something better for the family. I went looking for a crew cab 2500 Silverado. I decided to take a look at the Avalanche as it always intrigued me.
Well, I test drove it and bought it an hour later! I didn't even look at the Silverados. This truck handles like an SUV but has the power to do anything you ask of it. It comfortably seats my family of 5 (I got the bench front seat for the extra seating) and holds more than we can put in the bed. The bed cover keep everything dry and safe. If you lock the tailgate with the bed cover on, it is a nice storage place. ;)
Through all the mud, snow, rain, dirt, and streets the Avalanche never had a problem with handling or power. If you are in the market, simply test drive one and we WILL fall in love with it....read morehide

- Rugged, comfortable and lots of room for feet and legs.
- This baby loves a drink... have a buck or two for gasoline. Front tow hooks will snap off.
Overall, the machine has got the versatility that only a person stuck with a regular truck for a few years can fully appreciate. Class by night, a fighting bulldog by day.
The mid-gate has to be one of the finest inventions in this class in decades. What other truck can heat the truck bed, all the way to the rear gate, on the road? It is an amazing quality.
Pulling power exceeded my expectations and was far superior to that of the Dodge Durango, which even has a bigger block, 5.3L vs 5.9L
Like it's brother, the Chevrolet Suburban, it is a bit difficult to see over the rear end, from the front seat. While the Suburban would lend itself to an rear window attached optical viewer, the Avalanche can not. You still have that tall truck bed to see over. If Chevy decided to put in a rear camera system, it would go a long way in relieving discomfort trying to see out the rear window, while backing up.
Basic costs are just as bad as any other vehice of this class, but the size and the ride certainly make up for it. It is a rather big truck, but drives like a dream....read morehide

- This truck just gets the job done.
- No Con
In snow the center of gravity makes this just go when other trucks are hung up.
