Purchased As Used
Bought 4 door 4wd drive Lt truck used in '07 with 11K miles. Impressed with engine power/performance feels like a small V8 but gets better mileage. About 18-20 mpg city and 23-to almost 25 mpg on highway. The 4 wheel drive works great in the snow. I don't believe this is designed for heavy off roading but does nicely when get in muddy back roads where a 2 WD would get stick. I know for I had to put in 4WD to get unstuck from the dash mouted button that engages 4WD. Same in snow can get you out of situations where 2 WD would slide around. I often try to see how far the 2WD can get me before having to use the 2WD, because of the traction control it does do well with just 2 WD but always nice to have the 4WD on demand. The truck bed is a smaller bed and as such you have to understand that this is for the occacional hauling of load of mulch, half load of rocks, picking up half load of cinder blocks or for throwing the groceries in the back. I ordered the folding hard cover for the back of my truck which basically makes the bed a large trunk space when closed and with the keyed tail gate a secure place to store things. Just remember this is a medium size truck and noat a heavy duty one. I loaded a bunch of long heavy boards that extended about 4 to 5 ft beyond the tailgate and the tailgate did bend. This is not a heavy duty FORD but a nice medium size truck good for occasional hauling of medium weight items. Treat it as such and you won't have to replace the tailgate like I did. The seats are fairly comfortable for daily driving but can start to feel a little stiff after very long trips but what seat doesn't if you sit in it for over 4-5 hours (or longer) at a time. The front seats on my model can recline but not down fully flat but enough to catch a nap in if need to do so. The driver's seat does have lumbar support adjustment to support lower back. I have been very pleased with the truck ONCE the electrical issues were fixed. So to that issue...I was having issues where I would stop the truck come back and the truck battery would be drained. Went back to dealership 4 times to fix, was considering lemon law to get out of it but after replacing driver side windows/locks control switch/ body movement module (or something like that) and some other sensor and then replacing the battery since it had almost been killed by the heavy drains on the system (all covered under original warranty)...the truck has been rock solid reliable since that was done. It is now November 2010 with 70K miles on truck and I have experience NO problems other than replacing bulbs in headlights and turning lights. This is one of those vehicles that auto turns on and off the lights. Also autolocks doors as you drive forward, and if keys are in ignition will not allow you to lock drivers door with engine off/ map lights on rear view mirror/ notifies you when oil needs to be changed some nicer features for a truck. There was one recall on brake light switch and notified of possible problem with valve seats in engine. Factory extended warranty on valves to 100K miles now. I run synthetic in engine so it is still running strong no smoke for me. Change oil about every 5-7K miles with the extended Synthetics Oils. Much more comfortable ride than many small cars and larger trucks. Over all if I hadn't had the electrical issues with the truck I would have given higher marks. I do enjoy driving the truck and my wife feels very safe driving it the snow. Overall great truck...even if it was made by GM. Actually this is made by Isuzu...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isuzu_D-Max which may account for its many positive features.
