- it can get the job done Right, unlike ford
- the fuel pump needs to be up graded
this truck is the best on the market for work, play and show. although i dont like the 07s just because they look too much like an escalade(sp?) im sure they run nice but you gotta admit, the 01s are the BEST

- Roomy in the Cab, comfortable for long travels, looks nice,
- annoying noise coming from front differential, fuel economy, shifts hard
Truck only has 4,000 miles on it and has been in the shop several times since day one. Still no answers and still continue to have an annoying noise coming from the front differential, Dealer claims its a carrier bearring - this has been replace 2x's. Clunks when it shifts and shifts hard. Per dealer they stated they talked to Chevy and nothing can be done. I disagree....read morehide

- i have the 4.8 L V8 it is great on fuel just a bit shy of the 5.3 but it is overall a great truck!!!
- just need little more room between wheelwell and tire
I owned three other chevys and have not been disappointed with either of them. Been a loyal GM fan for long time had dodges and fords that never compared to what chevy produced.

- Decent fuel economy, reliable, made well, durable, smooth ride for 4x4 truck and no surprises!
- The bed is too small and could be a bit deeper, no locking tailgate, more legroom.
Overall I am pleased with my crew cab Silverado Z71 4X4, the overall quality is very good and the ride is smooth for a truck. The fit and finish on my truck is very good and I have not noticed any strange noises or had any unexpected probems. The 5.3 engine is more than capable of towing my trailer and ATV's. The vortec engines are well built. It is very easy to drive and has a good turning radius. The back seat could use a couple more inches of legroom for the taller person and the back seat is somewhat uncomfortable on long trips because of its upright position.
I also own a 2002 Suburban Z71 4X4. The Suburban has 4.10 gears and seems to be more responsive than my 2006 Silverado Z71 4X4 although they have the same engine. I have just over 40k miles on my Suburban and I have no complaints, it has been very reliable thus far. I should have gotten the 4.10's on my Silverado.
I previously owned a 99 Ford F-250 4X4 diesel crew cab but I sold it after 36k miles when the turbo went out (It was repaired under warranty). I had other minor problems with the Ford such as the electric windows and door locks not working (My first and last Ford). I like my Chevy's better, they seem to be built better than the Fords....read morehide

- Rides great, Looks Great, Best truck out on the market
- Would be nice is the 1500 still came with a 6 1/2 ft. bed
I have owned 6 Chevy trucks. And will continue to buy Chevy trucks. Bar none, you can't beat a Chevy. Several friends own Fords, and Dodges and I am not impressed with them at all. They are not solid, and seem that it was not build with quality steel. I feel that I can out pull their trucks (HEMI) or not, Dodge don't match up to the power of Chevy. "Like A Rock"...read morehide

- sharp looking truck!
- brakes a little soft
love the 5.3 for power. When I bought the truck I told the dealer that I tow around 4000 pounds and the truck is rated for 7200 pounds of tow capacity. The truck will pull thw weight but wants to shift between gears at high speed or strong winds. The engineers from canada told me a 3.72 rear end would be alot better for pulling then the 3.42 that I have. I wish that I knew this when I bought the truck for pulling my sleds. But over all I would definately buy a chevy again, lasts forever....read morehide
