2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD Crew Cab 2WD User Reviews

The truck now has 14,000 miles and it has been in the shop 17 times. The power windows have quit twice, the radio once, and the power locks too many times to count.
I now have piston slap, so it sound like I am driving a diesel. The truck is now back in the shop and I think that they will have to replace the transmission. It slips when I tow a trailer. I hope it can hold together until this fall when I buy a Dodge Mega Cab.
Traded my Dodge for the larger cab, big mistake....read morehide

- Comfortable, Excellent Towing Capacity, Bose Stereo is A++++++
- Horrendous Gas Mileage
I actually own a 2004 Chevy 2500 LD, which is the same thing as a 1500HD. I had a 2003 1500 crew cab before with the 4.8 that had some serious transmission issues (slippage, slamming gears when changing) but maybe I just got a bad egg on that one, because this one is so awesome! The seats are like La-z-boy chairs. Go for the Bose system if you can, incredible. I love this truck. It will tow just about anything you give it. It sucks gas though, and especially here in California with the nation's highest gas prices, isn't always cool. But the high points definitely outweigh the bad. I highly recommend this truck, and I will most definitely buy another one....read morehide

- Tons of luxury features not found in other trucks. Excellent build quality.
- Poor fuel economy
Pulls my 8500# travel trailer with ease! I thought about a diesel, but now I'm glad I saved the $5000 and bought this truck! The heated seats are wonderful in the cold temps, and dual zone HVAC works great for me and my wife because we can never agree on the interior temperature until now! Lots of rear seat room for our 3 kids, and adults fit very comfortably. My truck has the Quadrasteer option which allows you to drive this long truck like a midsized car!! My wife has no problems driving this truck in tight parking lots and towing is awesome! I looked at Ford, Dodge, and the Nissan Titan and I found the Chevy to be superior in just about all categories, and definitely has the best and roomiest rear seat of all of them and I like the way the Chevy looks the best....read morehide
