- Pros
- Quiet, nice ride with or without trailer, good quality feel
- Cons
- None, at 14000 miles and still enjoying it
Buy it loaded. Duramax Allison combination is the sure winner compared to the alternative. Ford and Dodge tranny's are scary. Have two buddies with 04 Ford and Dodge diesels having issues. Resale value is great too after some research. You can't get hurt. Daily driver, tow vehicle, construction needs this truck meets the demands. Do the homework and figure out Chevy really cares about their product. At least the last few years have been shiners. Thumbs up for Chevy....read morehide

- Pros
- 5000 mi. and getting 22 m.p.h. on the highway and 14 m.p.h. while pulling 28 ft. (9000lb.) trailer
- Cons
- hard to park, need 40 acre's to turn this rig around lol
Had 2002 2500hd 6.0l and loved it , got 2005 6.6 turbo diesel and allison trans. can't imagine anything better. Nice to put your foot into it pulling trailer and go from 60 to 80 in a split second and complete the pass. No problem on the hills either, (up or down), grade braking is super. would recommend to anyone needing a good pull vehicle. Been around big trucks on the farm and camping for 20+ yrs. and doesn't get any better....read morehide

- Pros
- 6.6 L. diesel- good gas mileage and very responsive. very quiet
- Cons
- ride is rougher than 1/2 ton but this isnt your fathers truck. you have alot of capability and perfo
I just purchased my second 2500 HD 6.6 Liter Duramax. I have been very pleased with both veh. Before buying the diesel i bought a 2001 Chevy 2500 hd 6.0 liter with the 4.10 rear end and my gas mileage wasn't very good. i traded it in on adiesel 3/4 ton chevy in 2002. i havent looked back. The interoir is much nicer than any other truck manuf. on the market and the veh has excellent trade in value and retains its value very well especially the 4x4 which is what i buy. I could not recommend a better truck to anyone. i have too many former Ford truck owners to prove it!!!!!!!!1...read morehide

- Pros
- Good fuel economy, pulls strong
- Cons
- low clearance...
I've got a 2005 with the 6.6 duramax and allison trans combo. It's got 30,000 miles on it....about 20,000 of them hualing 10,000 pounds...not a single problem yet...climbs the grape vine easily at 70mph in tow...plenty of power.. I also have a 2005 f-250 with the 6 liter diesal. It pulls just as strong...its actually a little quicker because it shifts faster. the ford has had some minor transmission problems...fixed under warranty...all in all i prefer the duramax and allison...i think the chevy is better looking with a nicer ride..plus its not nearly as loud as the ford...though the chevy could use a little more clearance....and the ford does a little better off pavement due to its better clearance and weight distribution....who cares...most of us spend 99 percent of the time on the road..anyway like i said there both good trucks...i prefer the chevy...and time will tell which is more reliable and less costly to maintain......read morehide

- Pros
- Good Fuel economy (19 mpg), will pull anything
I think that my 2500HD is the best truck out there. I get great gas mileage even when I pull my 5th wheel trailer (30 ft). 13 - 14 mpg. The back seat is comfortable with pently of leg room even with the front seats all the way back.

The exterior styling leaves alot to be desired. The interior is so-so. The comfort level is alright. The power isn't anywhere near what they say it is supposed to be. The headlight make the front of this truck look awful. The interior isn't much better than the mid to late 90's. The ride isn't to bad, but I have driven better. The 6.6L Duramax is listed a 605 lbft of torque, but compared to the Ford 6.0L Powerstroke which is rated at 570 lbft of torque it is overrated. The Ford can tow alot more, it can haul more, and it has better stopping performance....read morehide

- Pros
- Duramax/Allison - the best combo
- Cons
- 2500HD rides stronger than 1/2 ton trucks
This site is soooo bais. It all list Japenese as the best trucks. Come-on. Someone needs to wake up to reality. Don't trust this site's editors. They need to get out into the real world instead of getting their facts from the Japenese websites.
