Bought my 2005 Aveo off the lot, good car till the timing belt broke and killed the engine, paid 4500$ to replace and a year later it does the exact same thing. GM doesnt care that this care is crap and i feel like they need to recall this particular year and model.Not a happy customer!!

I bought this as a second car to get around town but have been very disappointed. I got a great cash deal (under $10k off the lot) but over the past year, it's been back for warranty repair four times. The last was for a major transmission problem while the others have been the on-board computer (twice, the first time three days after I bought it) and some electrical short under the dash which they're still not sure what it is. Needless to say, my confidence level is not very high. Its also very noisy, very poor acceleration, and already has rattles from loose hardware inside the doors....read morehide

CAREFUL..Can get you hit!! We had record heat this summer and this little car would decide when you'd get power and when you wouldn't.would zip around town the you'd got to make a left turn across traffic and it would almost DIE! So I would warn anyone that borrowed it "Don't make ANY daring moves! We had the extra under coating done and interior special done..we now have a rattle in the front not sure where it's coming from?? BUT BIGGEST disappointment is we only get 20 mpg?!?! So I have NO IDEA where/how others are getting high mpg?!?! GRRRR Otherwise we get great acceleration.. It Is very snappy and quick.. love to drive it just don't like stopping to fuel it ALL the time.....read morehide

I have a 2006, one rear wheel bearing failed and covered under warranty, 50k + miles and only oil changes and tire rotations, an excellent work car and money saver. I hate it when the big shot editors that only drive BMW or M-B cut this one down, it does what it is designed to do...period.

We bought our Chevrolet Aveo new back in November 2006. Drove it on our winter vacation the next month. Even though it got great gas mileage the comfort of ride was a little less to be desired. But I bought it for a commuter car anyway not a car for traveling. It has great take off power and I get approximately 30-35 miles to a gallon. I keep it well serviced and even hit a deer with it one morning a few miles from my house and drove it back home. Right now I have over 150,000 miles and still going....read morehide

My friend is currently operating a rented Aveo 5 through Baltimore (it was not his choice to rent). He is terrified of the extremely small lawn-mower tires, the millennium-falcon-entering-lightspeed-shaking that occurs at 32 MPH, and the awkward general shape. He claims to love all GM products, even his off-red Pontiac Vibe, the owning of which may or may not put his credibility in this matter into question, but hates the Aveo. I have a feeling it is one of those "Made in the USA" cars that is actually, with a combo of parts and assembly that is more Japanese than Toyota, which is easy to say is many Toyota vehicles are 60% or better produced assembled in the US. Just now, as he drives through Baltimore he has stated "This car, in fact, blows dudes.". There you have it folks, if you are driving through Baltimore lookout for one irate man in a little red Aveo. This why our roads are dangerous, our economy sucks, and John McCain did not beat Bush in the 2000 Republican primary; the Chevy Aveo. I bought my Aveo in 10/2009. It over heats a lot and i have been told there is nothing wrong by the dealer, had all spark plugs and wires replaced at 45000, turnk latch needed to be adjusted so it would close, all guages went out (Cluster cylinder), now it is at the shop again don't know what it is this time but it does not look good. I like this car because it is decent and reliable transportation at an affordable price. Power is just adequate but the fuel economy and manual transmission make up for it. I have test driven just about every other car in its class and I am glad to have chosen the Aveo. This car handles very well in town an on the highway.The ride is a little rough in the city.The fuel economy in the city is below the sticker but acceptable.high20"s on the open road it will get you 35+mpg.
