- It is a good looking little car with a great styling inside and out, price is great!
- less than advertised milage....only getting 30.1 (with no A/C and doing 70mph) horrible cup holders
I run a service center for a dealer and I am very familiar with cars. I bought American because I am always able to get 250k + out of all my cars. It wasnt until recently that I needed to put my GMC truck to bed and get a rice burner. I looked at Toyota, Nissan (great cars), mazda, honda etc. I finally picked the 2007 Chevy Aveo because of price, comfort and gas milage. However, I am not getting anywhere near 37mpg as my sticker suggested. Believe me I understand driving habbits but this has nothing to do with it. I drive all freeway miles with no A/C on at no more than 70mph and the best milage I get is 30.1mpg. Yes I also tryed going under 70mph and I only got max 32.1 mpg. The problem here is if you do 55mph or 60mph your rpm is at around 2800 or less and you have very poor power. If you are at around 3000 + rpm then you have a lot more power and you will see that your speedo says 70mph. At this point the only way my aveo will get 37Mpg is on the back of a tow truck cause it doesn't get what was advertised. I sent an email to GM to see if they are going to repond and I will post my comments later as things develop. Now as for these other people who say they are getting 37mpg + obviosly can not calculate accurately their mpgs and need a quick schooling in this......when you fill up write your milage down e.g. 1,310, now when you fill up again write your milage down and your gallons e.g. 1,510 and 6.5 gal. so 200miles divided by 6.5 = 30.77. You can repeat this process everytime you get gas so you can keep track of your milage. Maybe for some people milage is not that important but for me that is the single reason why I bought a 10k dollar car. Now that I don't get the advertised milage I might just cut my losses and get rid of it. I hope GM steps up and does the right thing because American manufacturers are going broke and this little scenario is not helping. I will update everyone to see how customer service handles me. I will even offer anyone at GM $50 bucks who can drive my car on the freeway at 60mph and get anywhere close to 37mpg maybe I can cut a hole in the floor board and run like the flinstones! lol
