This car has been great so far at 20K mile. I took it through the mountains with a family of 4 and all of our gear, no problem with the engine lacking power that would be expected from a 1.6l engine. We drove to 3000 feet fully loaded with a/c on and no problems. 6 hours in the car with family, not one complaint about having enough room. This is also my daily driver and I enjoy it every time. Nice sound system, roomy, 5 speed is a perfect combo with the 1.6l engine to get better pickup. No complaints other than my HVAC blower squeeking but it will be going to the dealer to get fixed....read morehide

This car is a joke. If I would have known it was this bad, I never would have bought one, I plan to trade it off this spring for something alot better. I discovered that the Chevy Aveo is a Daewoo Lanos with a chevy body , because chevy bought ot Daewoo in the United States.

I looked into several compact cars in this class and this was hands down a very well designed car. I am getting 33 mpg right off of the lot on my first 2 tanks of gas. The interior is well thought out with some nice built in features. This is not a super fancy car but that is not what I needed. This car is stylish and accomadates all of my needs. The 5 door design is an excellent feature as you do not need to be crawling into the back. I am 6 feet tall and can sit in the back with ease. This car gets a lot of crap from so-called experts. Mine rides and handles great on the road at 75. which is great for the wheel base. Accelerates well too. its also pretty comfortable and i'm 6 2". For the price it beats everything, and i looked at 'em all.

I purchased a black 2011 hatchback, and I have to say the rear spoiler, (optional--$250) dramatically changes the look of the car, for the better. Other reviews that I read about this car in the past were brutal. I am very happy with it! It is a pleasure to drive. Very agile. It is not a high performance race car, but it has more than adequate HP. I got the automatic trans. as the MPG's differed from the manual trans. only by one (34 vs 35). I am also happy that they upgraded the timing belt to a chain, on this engine. The only regret that I may have is paying $1600, to take the warranty up to 100,000mi. The standard warranty is 3yrs./ 36,000mi. In any event I AM COVERED!...read morehide

This is not a hot rod. It's a small inexpensive car. Costs a bit to change the timing belt; if you do this, you should also swap out your water pump. If you don't change the belt around 60-80k miles it might break. As long as you do the maintenance it's a good car.
I think it would get better mileage if it had a slightly larger motor - or, dare I say, a clean turbo diesel, like that would ever happen. But hey, why can't GM drop in that 1.4l turbo motor from the Cruze?
Anyway, I have 155K on mine '05 Aveo and I still really like it....read morehide

I love this car it is the best car I have ever bought. I can never go back to foriegn cars again after making the purchase of this car. It gets 49 mpg on the highway!
