This is a point by point review of the new Focus and new Cruze. I owned a 2012 Focus S for a month and found it to be a disappointment, I was excited about the european ride and good gas mileage. After a month though I couldn't stand the car and traded it in for a Cruze. I've owned focuses before and Cruzes so I went back to Chevy. The Focus S is made too cheaply, I strongly urge you to get an uppper model if you like the Focus. The one downside of any Focus is that the interior Ceiling seems low and the dash and middle stack area impede on room. My leg and knee hurt from always leaning on the center stack. Im 165 and 5"11. Compared to the focus and many other cars in the class the base model Cruze is extremely well appointed. First off is the window exterior door moulding. The focus has a rubber strip at the windows edge that looks like it is made from scrap materials. It also looks like it will also allow salt and water to get behind it and rust after a few years. The Cruze window trim is made from a high quaility chromed metal and is top notch. The Cruze has standard floor mats, the focus didn't. The hubcaps on the Focus S are horrible. They drove me nuts. People asked what was wrong with them and wanted to know when i was going to replace them. The Cruze caps are ok and are of much better quality. The interior radio screens are also a quality point. The Cruze has a good screen with satt. radio and onstar. The Focus has a cheap small screen thats a different color from other screens in the car, also no onstar or satt.radio. The odometer screen on the focus is basic and doesnt allow you to change what you look at. So you are stuck looking at a trip odometer. The Cruze odometer screen is a full information center and has many great info screens. The cruze has a 6 spped manual compared to the Ford's 5 speed. The cruze gets better mpg"s. I'm sure the upper model Focuses fare much better in comparisions, but in base form the Cruze is the clear cut winner.
