Purchased As New
I've owned my new Cruze for 1 week now and am very pleased with the purchase. The car is smooth, quiet, good power with the 1.4L Turbo and excellent fuel economy. I just keep driving and driving and haven't had to fill it up yet. I thought the trip computer was joking when it said 450 miles estimated miles to the tank. It wasn't joking.
I'm 6' 3" and 300+ lbs and fit just fine in the car. The front seat goes way back, the steering wheel adjusts up and down and telescopic which is nice. Chevrolet hit a home run with this car.
The only minor complaints I have are the 6 speed automatic transmission. To squeeze every last amount of gas mileage out of it, they set it up so that the car automatically shifts into neutral when you are waiting at a stop light with the brakes on. This puts less drag/stress on the motor and saves gas over time (this is like the Toyota Prius which actually goes a step further and turns the motor off when stopped). Unfortunately, when you take your foot off the brake to go, the car surges forward and isn't competely smooth when the transmission re-engages. This sucks and is very noticable at times. I wonder if this can be turned off???
Also the cup holders have these rubber inserts that hold big and small cups. However, when a large fast food drink (ala McDonalds is put in the cupholder, they grab onto it and won't let go. I've literally had to fight the cupholder to get the drink out. Not good. I imagine this will get better over time as it gets worn in.
Chevrolet should also add an economy/power button to the car. This little engine is a technological wonder squeezing so much power and using so little gas and with the stock settings they have found a good balance between economy and power. However with computers so easily tunable, aftermarket tuners add-ons are now available that can boost HP for performance driving and with a flip of the switch also boost mileage to the high 40's. Chevrolet should incorporate this into the car.
