- Pros
- Very comfy ride, decent fuel economy.
- Cons
- 4 cylinder could use a little more pep going up a steep grade.
Purchased As New
We're very happy with this vehicle. More than enough room inside, nimble handling, and extremely comfortable. Our 4 banger has plenty of pep for normal road conditions, but get the 6 cyl if you do a lot of steep grade driving or otherwise want to haul a@#s. Upper 20's to 30 MPG freeway (at reasonable speed) and lower to mid 20's in town. Great freeway cruiser....read morehide

- Cons

I was told when i purchased this car that it got 19 MPG .. this site says 20/29. I have owned my Equinox AWD LTZ for 3 months now and have not gotten more than 16.7 MPG out of this car. I will trade it as soon as I can. I am so disappointed about being lied to by the dealership that I will never purchase another Chevy. Be careful. Its a nice looking car but very expensive to own....read morehide

I love this car! I bought it last year and it has been great. I have no idea what people are talking about with the MPG because mine is exactly what they have said it was (I even calculated it myself several times throughout the year). I drive a lot for my job and needed a reliable car with good gas mileage. It is about the same as my old car (25-29mpg) and I don't feel I am fueling up any more than before. The only thing that I don't like is the silver detailing on the inside because the sun hits it a certain way in the afternoon and it shines right in my face sometimes....read morehide

- Pros
- All around great utility
- Cons
- Make sure the timing chain gets replaced under warranty
Purchased As New
We bought this new right before the bankruptcy of GM. They gave us such a great deal we couldn’t pass it up. We got the LT version with the leather seats for about $25K. Really there would have to be a lot wrong to get to us.
The care is spacious and comfortable. It has a unique feature of a movable back seat. Which allows us to choose more storage or legroom. We bought it so we could do road trips with our two adult children. It meets that requirement very well, with just enough luggage space to make traveling easy. It was also useful during the late high school years to move drama sets and sport gear. All in all very efficient mover.
I fitted it with a class 3 tow hitch and successfully towed a 9 x 12 U-Haul 7 miles through the Midwest. I wouldn’t take it in the mountains, but as a utility hauler it does quite well.
We get the mileage on the highway, about 30-33 mpg. We measured this independently of the car computer. The key is to set the cruise control and go no more than 70 mph. In the city we get 21-22 mpg with the eco switch on or off. It doesn’t seem to do much, but to shift earlier when it’s on.
Our vehicle is serviced by the local Chevy dealer. It has had several repairs when in for regular maintenance. No cost to u as they were all under warranty. The latest was the timing chain. I had made a comment earlier that the engine was much loader then when we bought it, but was assured that everything was ok. This past service at about 36K miles, they said that they changed the chain, and I found the noise had disappeared. Since the car has a 100K engine warranty, I am not worried, I am sure they got it right this time.
We have had several software upgrades over the past three years when it was in for oil changes. Again no cost to us. It seems that cars are like cell phones now, needing updates periodically as they fine tune the product. Once great feature is the car informs you when you need service, and if you have on star it sends a email. Oil changes are require about every 8-9K miles. So we have had 4 since new in 2010. Not other service has been required. Even the tires look great at 36K miles.
The rise is typically a Chevy ride, a little more rough then a Buick. If you want a smoother ride by the Buick, if you like to race around, by the Chevy. Overall a great car at a great price....read morehide3 out of 5 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Lots of room in the back seat, very confortable
- Cons
- Gas mileage a rip off
Purchased As New
We bought this car thinking we could have a small SUV that got good gas mileage. Even on the highway, in curise control going down Interstate 5 for long distances, I have never gotten more that 22 mpg. Chevy should be held accountable for the providing misleading information.

I purchased my new Equinox a month ago and was really enjoying it. It has plenty of room and I love all of the features (rear view camera, bluetooth, etc). It started making a loud clicking noise and then just quit. I was on a busy road when it happened and had to coast to a driveway to wait for a tow truck. The dealership says it needs a new engine. I have had the car for 28 days and it has 1400 miles on it. Very disappointing! I chose a new car over a used one so I don't have to deal with these issues....read morehide

- Cons

This is one of the best vehicles I have ever bought, and I have bought many over the years. The ride is great, fuel economy is good for an SUV of this size and I love all the bells and whistles on the car. The dash and console light up at night like the cockpit of a 747. Love it.

I purchased my 2010 4 cyl Nox in 2010 - I am sad to say that I have had issues with it--the timing chain was replaced at 28k (normally this part should last 100k or more)-I also had some rotor issues (warping) and alot of noise coming from the suspension which Chevy can not fix or find- they admit the noise exist but simply dont know where its coming from, the vehicle has been at the dealership many times for repairs-and one time it was there for 2 weeks!!-I had the struts replaced (leakage) and a few other parts replaced, keep in mind that these parts were replaced between 20k and 28k,It has no power and excessive engine noise (except when I put super instead of regular)-I am dissapointed-My biggest issue is MPG (main reason why I purchased this vehicle) which Chevy claims 22+ city - 30+ highway#$%$ dont relay on your cars computer for the actual MPG it is programed to deceive you and it is WRONG! -DO THE MATH and CALCULATE the distance by using a GPS- It really is about 15 MPGS city and 21 HIGHWAY--- Chevrolet is deceiving everyone! (Check out my video on youtube, tags Chevy MPG deception) I have a lawsuit pending and can not wait till I can get out of this vehicle! A Major dissapointment- If you are experiencing the same or similar issues please join me for a class action status lawsuit-contact me at joeluisbatista@aol.com
If your not having issues thats great-Its a shame because at first I really LOVED it-- ( I heard the 6cyl is better)...read morehide4 out of 7 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Interior quality and size for dimension, smooth ride, easy to manuever
- Cons
- Price and I'm sure MPG aren't going to be as advertised
Purchased As New
I've spent 2 days in my new 2012 Equinox 1LT V-6 w/tow package. Traded in my 2011 Silverado Crew Cab. Wasn't looking for better mpg's, just wanted something smaller and easier to maneuver around town. I purchased the Cardinal Metallic Red which is the same color as our 2011 Camaro, so the color is fantastic. Interior space and quality are way above what I expected. I test drove a lower model but mine has the laminated front and side glass and it makes a big difference in the noise. Interior space is incredible. Four real world adults can easily fit and the slide and recline feature on the back seat is nice. Rear seat comfort is same as front in my opinion. Love the Pioneer sound system. Not quite as good as the Bose in my Silverado but still good. Like the rear camera but it's a little deceiving. I only have the 1LT V-6 because I don't like leather but it is fully loaded. Rear cargo area is large even with rear seat pushed back. I don't drive or plan to drive the Equinox like our Camaro; however, mpg's aren't much different than my Silverado; not a big deal, but not what is advertised. For me the Equinox is a great fit and I know I will love it. Not so sure if I would call it a great value because they easily hit $30,000 but I'm happy and I guess that's all that matters....read morehide
