I've been driving GMs for 25 years, mostly rear-drive trucks. I needed a vehicle to carry 6 plus cargo and haul a car trailer. I just bought this van, but expect it will accomplish what I need. First impressions: The ride is nice, but the seats are not too comfortable. The cheap plastic interior probably won't hold up to much abuse, but this wouldn't be the first GM I got rid of because the interior fell apart before the mechanicals. We just put 400 hi-way miles on it yesterday and only got 13.82 mpg. Stabil-a-trac: This works by cutting power to the engine and applying the brakes to the spinning tire. This might be effective if I hit ice at hi-way speeds with the cruise on, but it turns the van into a boat anchor in my driveway. Like the owners manual says, if you get stuck in the snow, call a tow-truck. Sometimes you need power to get through snow but (even with a 6.0 engine) this thing won't give it to you. This isn't the luxury vehicle I would have liked to buy, but it fit my current budget and (with the exception of stabil-a-trac) I went into the deal with eyes open. Overall, a pretty good compromise if you need a family car on the weekends and a work vehicle during the week. Seats are a little tough to lug out and in but it can be done. I just wish that GM would put in a small diesel for decent fuel economy.
