2010 Chevrolet HHR User Reviews
- $9,778 - $13,747
- No trim specified for this review
- very reliable, good fuel economy, lots of cargo space
- terrible in the snow, dashboard gauges, turn signals, windshield wipers stop working
Purchased As New
I bought the car new in 2007 and really liked it for awhile. I use my car for work and it got great fuel economy until recently. I used to average around 29 or 30 mpg and that has fallen to about 23 mpg. Also, the windshield wipers switch to a faster speed on their own and I cannot use my high beams with my turn signals or the headlights go out. The gas gauge does not work in cold weather. The HHR is also terrible in the snow. I moved to a new house with a gravel driveway that has a slight slope to it so I had studded tires put on the front. This has not helped at all and I am often stuck halfway up the driveway. Meanwhile, friends with other front wheel drive cars (a ford taurus and cadillac) can easily drive up the driveway without a problem. I also never realized the need for running boards on the car (what other car in the world needs running boards?!) until the rocker panel was stone chipped and the plastic was discolored. If you buy this car, make sure it has the running boards from the factory or buy them very soon! It seems that the newer models do come from the factory with running boards...
All in all, I have never had a mechanical issue with the car and it now has 76,000 miles on it. If you live in a climate that never experiences snow, I would recommend this car.
