- $4,191 - $5,902

- Ex fuel economy...27.+ mpg for 38000mi combo city/hiway.Pretty good handling & power.
- Excessive road noise..conversation nearly impossible!!
Bought new in 2001.38000 miles with 27.+ mpg...50/50 hiway/city.Don't expect a "cushy"ride with LS suspension...harsh over shsrp bumps at slow speeds ...not unduly noticeable at hiway spds. Handles pretty decent ion twisty roads and sudden evasive manuvers. Was surprised at the performance avail from the 3.8 pushrod V6. Engine /Tranny has been dead reliable and smooth..no oil usage
Free wheels no engine "holdback" when slowing (the thing will coast a mile !
Replaced radio(warranty) at 6K mi
" top trim strips at 10k mi.(warranty)warranty
Replaced both rear wheel sensors/bearing assys at 30k mi. (warranty...would have been $500.00 each side, except for warranty)
Replaced intake manifold gasketat 15k (warranty)
TODAY at 39K mi taking to dealer to correct thumps and rattles in the front suspension...probably struts or bushings worn.
Fortunately I purchased the extended warranty..and hopefully will cover the problems .....
A bit of advice for potential buyer:
Be aware that the resale /trade - in value is terrible.
Buy the extended warranty....IF YOU ARE GOING to keep this auto for several yrs/miles. It'll put a working guy in the poorhouse tryiny to keep everything in ex cond.
Hope this will assist someone in their decision.
By the way...will be looking very closely at the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord in the NEAR future. I'm put off with the everlasting nit-picking problems of my Impala SS
