Purchased As New
Bought the 2005 Impala brand new in Oct 2004..Now has 116,000 miles.....Had to replace both tie rods, wheel bearings, and front brake pads literally fell apart while driving and fell in pieces onto road....Dashboard lights stopped working, stay constantly on dimmest setting.....floor shifter suddenly won't go into park..had to take shifter console off to jerryrig it with a shim to shift into park...mechanic couldn't figure it out......Mass airflow sensor went bad, shutting car off and stranding me on a long trip, had to flatbed car to dealer along trip route. Transmission seems to slip and slam into gear every so often when pulling away from a stoplight.......Car is comfortable on long trips, gets 29-30 mpg on highway.....3.8 V-6 has plenty of pep but in this day and age, GM should be able to produce a car without these annoying mechanical issues, dashboard lights, shifter, etc.
