Purchased As Used
I Have been driving an 2004 Avalanche Z71, The top in comfort and everything for 6 years. Just bought a 2010 Impala, for the price and the mileage. Have been driving the car for a few days now and have noticed some things I will note. The seats are very comfortable and I am not a small man, the headrest is full enough, that while driving I can rest my head upon it. This is a nice plus to the seat base, which seems to adjust to all my angles to make the car equivalent to driving a lazy boy recliner. In the few day I have been using the car, to the store and back home, to work and back home, and dropping my son off at preschool and home. All this driving has been within 30 miles and has been stop and go. The in town driving mileage is about 18.8 mpg, and the turn around trip half way to San Francisco ended up at 31mpg. This was to say lower than the sticker quoted, however half the trip was headed North and in very light steady traffic, the average was a bright 36.6mpg, which is above the sticker. The ride back, heading South in heavy traffic where every unlicensed driver was not going the speed limit and in some cases repeatedly passing us only to slow down to a crawl for no reason, caused the low average mpg on the overall trip. This is not a normal driving trip on the California highways. The Impala did what it was ask to when I ask. The steering is made easier than I would have thought, the wheel felt heavy and sluggish in my fingers, but with easy the car responded quickly to my every command. When passing, the peddle again felt like a rock to get this ride moving, but it is not so, with the slightest pressure the car comes to life and can pass everything on the road without effort or noticeable mileage loss, keep in mind this LT has a on-board display for either instance or average fuel economy. As my use has taken me from around town on to the open road, this used 2010 is like a video game from my living room. The ride has shown me great comfort on the road with quick and smooth handling, at times it was as if I was riding a cloud. To wrap this up, my wife 5'10" she had plenty of leg room in the passengers front seat, my 4 year old in the middle in the rear seat strapped in and so com-fee he was happy to ride to his get away, on the return trip my wife stretched out in back a snored the whole ride home. Now the downside to this auto, single CD with no mp3 memory, come on Chevy give in, the one touch steering wheel controls. Due to fact that the volume control is under the radio channel controls, most of the time, when I wanted to turn up the sound, I changed the channel, and the duel buttons made it hard as well, to turn up or down the volume, the buttons have to be pushed up towards the driver. Sad but true, there could be 1 that does both or maybe mounted on the top of the steering wheel, on the bottom might have just been a change I will get use to. Over all we are very happy with our purchase of this 2010 LT model Impala.
