- 4 cyl has get up and go, handles well, quiet engine
- WAY too much wind buffetting with rear windows down. No sunglass storage or CD storage
Purchased As New
Just picked it up Saturday. So far so good. The fit and finish are flawless. Doors close solidly, the panel gaps are very well aligned and even. The 4 cyl seems to have some pep. The cloth seats are a firm but comfortable. Lots of nooks and crannies for storage but I cant find a decent place to store my sunglasses. Center arm rest moves forward and back allowing for adjustment which is nice. Steering wheel adjusts up and down and back and forth so your driving position can be optimized. Cruise control is simple to use. Very attractive interior. Auto headlight feature is nice. Im used to the Blazer I turned in so Im still trying to get used to getting out of a lower vehicle. Chevy obviously priced this car to compete with other similar vehicles in its class and based on what Ive seen Chevy did it right. Rear seats fold down allowing for more trunk space. Rear seats also seem comfy enough. The trunk does seem to have enough room for a midsized car by the way. If I had to pick one bad thing about the car its the extreme wind buffeting with the rear windows down at highway speeds. I have a Dodge Durango and it does the same thing but the Malibu is disappointingly worse. I realize most people will use the AC and keep the windows up but is every modern car suffering from this annoying buffeting? The car almost shakes when the rear windows are down at 50 or 60 mph. Other than that so far Im having a blast driving this car. Handles very well at highway speeds. I keep finding my self creeping up to 80 mph without realizing it. Little lr no effort at those speeds. it cruises well. I cant comment on reliability yet as I have only had it a few days. I trust Chevy has made a solid vehicle here with the warranty they include. I turned in a 96 blazer with 147,000 miles and it was still going strong without a spot of rust on it. If Chevy is still living up to its reputation, I expect the Malibu to give me many years of service. I will update this review (or add new ones) as I put on more miles and report if I get any unwanted surprises.
