Purchased this car as a certified pre-owned, and the first few months the car was fantastic. For a V6 the MPG is decent, but not class leading. The 3.6 Liter averages 20 to 21 and I mostly do fwy driving. The car has 46K miles, and I have already had to replace the power steering pump, rack & pinion, and had to contact GM directly because the dealer in Woodland Hills, CA lied about the warranty. The cabin squeaks excessively due to the power moon roof, and the car is not very stable at fwy speeds. I wish I paid the extra 2K for a Honda or Subaru and not this Honda wannabe....read morehide

I have had my Chevy Malibu for a year and a half now, and so far no complaints. Bought it brand new, at first it got about 20 miles a gallon city, and 28 miles a gallon hwy. Now at 40,000 miles it is breaking in, my gas mileage has improved, 24 mpg city, 34 mpg hwy. The only problem I have with this car is $50 oil changes, and starting off; no get up and go power from a stopping point.
BTW: I have found drafting puts my gas mileage above 36 mpg...read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Bought this car used and love it. Gas mileage not exactly what it says it would be but getting close to it on the highway. Rides nice, comfortable interior with easy to use controls. The only thing I don't like is the positioning of the cup holders. Hate to be nit-picky but that is the only thing I have to complain about. It is in a very awkward position for the driver to use. Overall, this is a great car! Chevy did it right!...read morehide

I just purchased a 2011 Chevy Malibu about 2 months ago. Less than 40k miles. I've already had to get a new fuel pump (RIDICULOUS) and now my heat wont work. Went back to the dealership about it b/c its 25 degrees out. All they said was we can fit u in next week to look at it. I left with a bit of an attitude and i hit my dashboard and the heat came on. The only way it will work is if i hit the top of the dash. The space in it isn't what it seems and good luck with the lies they tell you about the gas mileage. I get about 19-20mpg. SUCKS! Anyone know what could be wrong with my heat?...read morehide

The Malibu LTZ is an eye catcher in appearance and the factory claims were enough for me to purchase this car. I have had it for a year with just over 13,000 miles on it. But as the months went on the gas mileage never proved out (21mpg max) and the shifting of the automatic transmission is just getting worse, shifts late and kind of jerky. Service department can't seem to find anything wrong so I stopped complaining about it. It just wastes my time to sit there for hours and wait for them to tell me nothing is wrong. What is wrong? Buying the car in the first place, but of course not all Malibu’s respond the same way and people have different thresholds before complaining. The final straw is this mysterious water leak from the driver’s side door area right above the seat. The service guy said I left the window open and I responded with “so now when it rains from the ground to the sky” there was no water trail from the door window buy from the roof of the car. They sent the car to the sealant guy who removed the trim and tried to seal the leak but it just move further behind the driver’s seat. Good job sealant guy. Now I have to clean the interior and hope it won’t smell next summer.
Not very satisfied....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- gas guzzler, GM's "helpfull" attitude is absolutely horrendous

I am getting 19 to 21 mpg hwy [speed limit 70, used cruise control, non-stop driving, 4 cyl.]. I have been back to the dealership three times - they claim it is the car, nothing more they can do. I have talked with GM's customer specialist serveral times. I did get a speech on how to drive better and to go back to the dealership for more help. On a return call to GM, I was told that I would hear from a District Specialist within 24 hours. Six days later the Specialist called and told me that GM only honors warranty items and that mpg was not a warranty item. Even though GM advertised 33mpg [big print] and the salesman strongly emphased it, I was told that GM would NOT honor it. Several times I asked if "I was being told that GM would not help me and I was stuck with a DUD". The response was "YES" each time. Thank you GM. In the future, I know how to handle your 'wonderful' attitude....read morehide

So far I love the car, as much as you can love metal on
wheels.Since I am not really into cars and don't like the process of having to buy a car nore the car payment, I am
very happy with my choice.0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Horrible gas mileage!!!

I get the worst gas mileage in this car. I have never gotten better than 24mpg and my typical gas mileage is actually closer to 19 or 20mpg and Chevy could care less. They gave me a speech about how I probably drive the car. Then they suggests I use premium gasoline instead of regular unleaded. The salesman who sold me the car raved about the 30+mpg I would be getting. I feel cheated. I love my heated seats and remote start, but fairly certain I can get that on another car that isn't going to suck gas....read morehide
