- Comfy cruiser
- Everything to do with driving
Purchased As New
I have this car as a fleet company car. I have over 26k miles and have had it about a year. My fleet must have gotten a superb deal since they turned in our old fleet vehicles before lease expiration.
First, the good: It is a well laid out comfortable cruiser. I drive long distances through all kinds of terrain from high mountain to prairie. I spend a lot of time in the car and it is a good layout with outlets, storage, drink holders, etc. Trunk is roomy with nice pass-throughs if you need it. No mech problems at one year.
The bad: I just drove four hours through the mountains and hated it so much I had to write a review. First, no person who likes to drive will love this car. No way. Turning radius sucks. Huge blind spots and the engine will only do something similar to what you want. I am pretty sure that the pedal is not mechanical and everything you want to do goes through a computer, gets reviewed, voted on and then sent to the engine. The revs stay up when you lift off the pedal for as long as a couple seconds. Forget about passing the turtle ahead of you. What happens is you will be flooring and braking all the time along with swearing. I race SCCA at times and have two cars of my own before you think I am a lousy crazy driver. The responses of this car are horrible. I had to drive my Mini Countryman S yesterday just to calm my driving spirit. The Mini engine does exactly what I tell it when I tell it, no voting. Given that they dumped Malibu's in fleets you can expect low resale values in the future, too. These are the kinds of cars that made me give up American years ago. I would roll this car off a cliff but they would give me another new one.
This car is good if you are a nonpicky commuting driver who can use cruise control a lot. If you actually like driving...run away...or better yet, run to a different car....read morehide

- Great gas mileage. Impressive interior
- Could have more wood trim
Purchased As New
I have owned Cadillacs for the past 12 years and wanted a smaller, sportier, more fuel efficient vehicle. While researching cars I saw the Red tint Malibu and decided to test drive it. The Malibu has the style and feel of a more expensive car at a much lower price point. Great ride, great interior and more importantly, it's a great looking car. The interior has everything that the more expensive brands have; XM radio, heated seats, leather interior and a great Pioneer sound system. The Malibu is sporty and surprisingly nimble. I agree with most that the gas mileage is closer to 22-25 miles a gallon in the city and not 18. The 1LTZ looks beefy and manlier than the beloved Camry and the Accord. I hope the Malibu can match their reliability; only time will tell. GM is catching up with the European and Japanese automakers with such a stylish car. In the interim GM has taken the Malibu into uncharted waters and has delivered a top notch car....read morehide
