2011 Chevrolet Tahoe User Reviews
LS 2WD shown
- $26,939 - $41,318
- No trim specified for this review
- Handles well, excellent safety options, can gear down to a crawl when needed (saves brakes rotors).
- Hate the rear window paddle where it is at. Fuel mileage not great. Scrap third seat totally.
Purchased As New
Our third Tahoe now. All have been top of the line. While we do like a majority of the technological options, a few, such as the blind side warning chime/light, now have my wife/myself dependent; that is probably not good! I really wish Chevy would incorporate a keyless entry system like those on Fords. The cost for the 2011 was not that great but with our past Chevy experience and having an active sport family, we have few options. The next vehicle though, once the kids are gone, will not be an SUV; will take the same money and enter into the luxury sport car market! About the same expense, when all costs are factored. I do not like the way the manufacture site provides a solid trade-in value and the dealer will not honor. Really pissed me off. I purchased the 2011 LTZ and a 2010 Silverado LTZ the same time, same day too. Unbelievable. I reported the issue to the manufacture site, too. Oh, by the way, the 2010 truck? Broke down the 3rd day I had it (brand new) and did not get fixed for a total of 22 days!!! What the? The claim I filed with the manufacture left me completely dissatisfied; I told them, will tell you, I will NEVER purchase another Chevy in my life. My wife/I spent more than $110,000 at the dealership that day and they still refused to provide me a new truck when mine kept breaking down (less than 750 miles); they completely refused. So, what did I do? After finally getting it back (after the third fix), I immediately went to Dodge and traded it in on a new black/silver enhanced 2011 Ram 1500 with a dealer installed 4" lift, custom paint, custom tires/wheels, custom stereo, and most available options. Once I added "my touch," my truck looks awesome (I added chrome/black diamond plate headache rack/matching gull wing box, diamond plate side/tail caps, locking rails, diamond plate mud flaps, chrome taillight/headlight covers, chrome bug deflectors, chrome window rain deflectors, stainless steel rocker panels, spray on bedliner, added vinyl decal work in matching colors plus a deep but semi-bright burgundy enhancer, and I added a limousine dark tint to the rear and back seat door windows). I did "my touch" to my wife's Tahoe, too but she is not one for a lot of gaudiness. So, on her white diamond Tahoe, I did a complete chrome package like my Dodge as well as adding the chrome posts (on the upper part between the front and rear doors). The paint enhancement work was done in silver, gold, and the same deep but semi-bright burgundy I used for the Dodge. Finally, I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE to secure a 100,000 mile extended warranty on any Chevy you purchase. I know, I know. It's expensive BUT YOU MAY WELL THANK YOURSELF IN TIME. I DID - 7 different times!!! Saved my bacon to the tune of approximately $10,000 on my 2003 Tahoe Z71 alone. As for my 2007 Tahoe Z71, the warranty saved us about $5,000. The cost of the 100,000 mile extended warranty for my wife's 2011 Tahoe LTZ? Got it direct from my credit union (my loan through them) was $1,077. The one on my 2010 Dodge truck was less than $800. Don't get yours through your dealer, get it elsewhere. Finally, on the new Tahoe, we hate the rear window wiper paddle where it is (it was same location on our last one, too). We really love the ability to continuously gear down when descending. This really saves our brakes and rotors (last Tahoe had rotors turned then replaced by 60,000 miles). Use your transmission a lot! We do. Any questions?
