Excellent car for fuel economy

by Kenny from Richmond, VA (8/21/08)
Pros:Great fuel economy, fair power good warrentee
Cons:Small Trunk

This car has one of the best fuel economy I have seen. We drove from Richmond, VA to Atlanta, GA and got an average of 34-36 miles per gallon respectively and it is an automatic!!!!

Fit is not go.....

by Floyd from Boise, Idaho (8/10/08)
Pros:Great fuel economy, roomy for it's size.
Cons:Brakes feel sluggish.

The critics keep touting the Honda Fit as the better car but for 3 to 5 grand less how can you even compare it? My Aveo has been getting 34mpg in town and 37 on the highway which, by the way, is better than the ratings for the Fit. Not everybody can afford a Honda so give the Aveo a chance!

Suprising Quality

by Ken from Green Valley, AZ (7/31/08)
Pros:Engine and road quietness, interior comfort and quality, smooth manual shifting, OnStar and xm radio
Cons:front end style is a mess, lacks standard ABS - brakes feel sluggish, 15 in. wheels are only availab

I just test drove this redesigned Aveo5, and I was pleasantly suprised by the improvements in quality over the 2008 model. Although the MSRP is somewhat higher than advertised online, I will probably buy it.

great car! inexpensive & fun.

by Jason from Ypsilanti, MI (6/12/08)
Pros:Great fuel milage, bigger inside than it looks, great value, perfect commuter
Cons:the base radio isn't the best, you have to lock the drivers door with the key, in dash cupholders

This little car is great! I've had it for a month now to drive back and forth to work. It is surprisingly roomy and fun to drive. What a value! With the payment, insurance, plates, registration, gas, etc... I still save $50/month over just putting gas in my truck. I got the model with nothing on it (not even floor mats). I saw another comment talking about putting up with the "expert reviews" of the Aveo and I don't believe they were driving the same car...

A WONDERFUL CAR

by A. Alexander from Miami, Florida (5/16/08)
Pros:Fuel Economy, Pleasure Driving
Cons:Reading the nonsense other so-called experts say about this wonderful car.

Have driven this wonderful car 75,000 miles in 4 years. Across country twice as well as in cities. I LOVE IT ! No Problems. I just keep it well maintained. MORE than 36 mpg on highway; MORE than 28 mpg in the city if you know how to drive. I "love" how a popular Consumer's magazine has continually put it down despite what owner's say, and saying it got "only 27 mpg in the city - then that same magazine raving how economical the Honda Fit was because it got 27 city, 34 mpg highway. Thsi is a wonderful car. Don't let others make your decision. Check it out yourwelf.

Aveo rocks!

by Chevy woman from Seattle, WA (4/25/08)
Pros:Excellent gas mileage, smart & stylish, amazing cargo space, great in-city car, parking is a breeze!
Cons:Have owned an Aveo hatchback for 3 years, no problems whatsoever, runs beautifully!

Of all the new cars I have purchased; from economy to mid-size luxury, this by far has been the most cost efficient and reliable car. It too, creates quite a bit of positive attention from men and women alike, all compliments on its attractiveness as well as inquiries as to the low MPGs and maintainence costs. Drove it to San Fran last summer and averaged 45 mpg!

Great Buy

by Jerri from Owosso, Michigan (4/25/08)
Pros:Great fuel mileage, Roomy for the size.

Cannot beat the price. Although nothing fancy in mine, I love it. Plenty of room in it. I was able to take my father shopping and with the back seats down I was able to put his groceries and a full size wheel chair in the cargo area. I am getting about 35 to the gallon.
If you are looking for an economizer, I would definately recomend this one.

Chevy Aveo is a great value

by Dale Brose from Highland, CA (4/25/08)
Pros:38 MPG in my 2005 sedan. Came with A/C, power locks & windows and MP3 radio for $12K.
Cons:This ain't no Cadillac ride, but for 12K and 38 mpg, who cares?

I had signed up to buy a Smart Car, but now after driving one I'll definitely stick with my Chevy Aveo. I have 50K miles now and the only repair needed so far was a new thermostat. This car is a great buy for someone value minded. A similarly equipped Toyota Yaris, which is only a two door, was over $5K more than the Chevy Aveo.

Efficient, dependable, inexpensive, ugly car

by Dave from Portal, Arizona (4/25/08)
Pros:31-35mpg, cheap cost, cheap insurance, easy to park
Cons:short wheel base, low ground clearance, butt ugly

I got the no-frills low cost version...with a/c. For the 40 minutes a day I spend commuting I wanted an economical, inexpensive, solidly built bucket on wheels...and I got it. I wouldn't want to take it on a 200 mile jaunt because it will beat you to death, however, for an around the town car it is sufficient. I'm a happy camper and that's what matters most.

Satisfied and saving money

by Taylor from Indianapolis, In (4/25/08)
Pros:Good gas saver, roomier than it looks, good value for a car
Cons:No get up and go. Needs passenger arm rest

I have had it for 7 months and it has been wonderful. Great on gas and with the way prices are, I feel I have made a good choice. I heard all the funny comments when I first bought my Aveo. Now I hear more inquiries about it. If you are using it mostly for commutes, get the basic model. The gear ratio could be better, but it's not a sports car.
