This car offers alot for the money. As far as I'm concerned, the 300 is the coolest looking car on the road these days. Gas milage is brutal. According to the trip computer, I averaged 12.8 miles/gallon on the last tank with 60/40 city/hwy driving. I'm not sure how the EPA comes up with their numbers, but they are definitely way off the mark with this car. It is rated at 17/24 city/hwy, but those numbers seem unobtainable. I don't think the cylinder deactivation helps a bit. Even though it's supposedly undetectable, it is very easy to feel as the car feels bogged down in this mode.
Aside from the brutal fuel economy, this car is very good. Mine had every available option and had a sticker price of $41,280. I was able to negotiate the price down to invoice of roughly $38,600 and also got a $1k rebate from Chrysler Financial. After owning 4 Lexus' in a row (3 LS & 1 GS) over the last 12 years, this car seems down right cheap for all you get. This car could have been badged a Mercedes at a $20k higher price and would sell very well.
It takes a while to get used to the very limited views out of the windows, but after driving it for 3 weeks I've gotten used to it. The rear parking sensors are a definite must have as the height of the rear window is almost as high as in my wife's Honda Odyssey. The AWD works great on this car. The last couple of weeks have brought some treacherous driving conditions to the Chicago area, but this car had absolutely no problems handling it. It accelerated as good or better in the snow than my wife's previous Expedition 4x4. I wish it came with the much nicer looking chrome rims that come on the non AWD C or had an option for the 20" rims of the SRT model.
Even though this car is rated identical in 0-60 performance as my previous LS430 (6.3 seconds), the C feels much quicker. It pulls very hard off the line. Surprisingly, when passing at 60 mph, the LS430 felt quicker even though is has much less power. I'm guessing it has to do with the 32 valve engine in the Lexus vs 16 valves in the 300. The handling is surprisingly very tight and predictable for a car of this size, although the ride seems a little harsh at times as I can feel almost every bump. I could definitely feel Mercedes' input in this car as it feels very similar to the previous gen E55 which I have driven.
The layout of all controls are very nice except for the cruise control lever which seems oddly out of place just above the turn signal. It would have been better if they incorporated it into the steering wheel like my old Lexus'. My car came with the upgraded California walnut trim. They should have applied it more liberally to areas like the window switches and around the vents to really richen the car. I'm considering an aftermarket wood kit to fill the gaps. Some of the plastics on the lower dash, lower half of the doors, and center armrest are of very low quality and scratch easily. Chrysler should have used the same high quality materials they used on the upper portions but cheapened out for some reason. The nice chrome accents on the "C" cars do help detract from the other cheaper materials though.
The engine noise at highway speeds seems a little excessive to me. From what I've read, it may have to do with the AWD system being noisier than the RWD because of the extra mechanicals. Maybe I had just gotten very used to how quiet my LS430 had been and was spoiled. But the Hemi does have a sweet growl when you give it some gas as it comes to life. Regarding the tranny, my car seems to hesitate to find a lower gear when it comes to passing. Also, when I back out of a parking space and put the car in drive, there is a hesitation before the tranny engages. I don't know if this is a characteristic of the Benz 5 speed auto or something that should be looked into.
Overall, this car offers alot for the money. Just prepare to make many stops at the gas station....read morehide

- Handles like a dream; perfect strangers make comments that usually start with 'wow'...
- Needs lots of pressure to brake, especially if you drive a bit too fast.
I bought this car from my college roommate who owns a Chrysler dealership. So I got mine loaded at the dealer price.
Dealer is so taken with this car that he keeps his second car in his garage and almost never uses it.
His second car is a late model Mercedes

- Beautiful car. One of the most attractive cars I've ever seen.
- 2005 300 Limited AWD caught on fire on bottom of front end of car.
Dealer claims that catalitic converter got too hot and caused the grass underneath to catch fire which began the blaze under the car. Dealer is blaming me for having parked the car on a friend's lawn while attending a BBQ. I have never heard of something as foolish as a person not being able to park their car on grass (just cut the day before). Dealer is not being cooperative, not taking responsibility for what appears to be a defect. Dealer would not even supply me with a car rental. Chrysler Corp. also is not being very helpful thus far....read morehide

I would just ask that, unless you actually own the vehicle, please refrain from posting a review (yes, I own one). I'm here looking for owner's commentary, and I keep coming across poorly restated Car & Driver articles and vitriolic Hemi-lovin' myopics.
My 300C has performed pretty much as expected; locomotive thrust, feels lighter than its 2 tons, and you don't notice the cylinder deactivation. I'm getting about 28mpg on a mostly highway commute. There's more body roll than my last car (Intrepid), and a friend commented that the interior was a bit 'Buick-y' - whatever that means.
Biggest pro - easily the accelleration.
Biggest con - smaller trunk that you'd expect in a car this large.

I have a magnesium pearlcoat colored 300c with every option except the power adjustable pedals. This car absolutely spoils you! I have driven an E500, 540i (previous gen), Jag S-type, and many other across many ranges/types and found that the Chrysler 300C is well rounded and had much to offer.
The handling was more responsive than in everything except the bimmer, but none could touch it's acceleration! The HEMI engine is smooth and civilized, but will roar to life when you want it to. The car is suprisingly tossable and responsive considering its weight.
Wind noise is minimal - I noticed that there are at least three seals around each door/window opening.
As for those who complain about visibility, if you get the backup sensors, you don't have to worry (it's available as a dealer-installed option on lower models like the touring and limited).
As for reliability, I have over 8k miles on the car and not an issue to date!...read morehide
