2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible

- excellent even for tall people, extremely good looking with top down.
- turning radius, trunk entry, hi octane gas for GT model
Purchased As Used
Best convertible I've ever owned and I've owned them from the 60's on. First cruiser I bought was found by wife, a used 2005 turbo convertible with custom paint job(silver with blue and green flashes and a thin pint line on sides flaring to a big pink rear bumper) the only part I don't like is pink bumper but paint scheme works. Get comments almost every day on appearance. In Jan 2013, found a 2005 GT convertible so wife took pink one and I drive the blue GT. Both of us very happy even with approx. 100000 mile on each. Subtle interior differences even though both turbos but GT is high output and more horsepower. No major problems and a real blast to drive, only wish they were manual tranny. we're truly enjoying our second "childhood". Can honestly recommend a PT Cruiser convertible if you want a fun, sporty, easy on the eye vehicle.
Both cars quite fast off the line and will make tires screech.
Turning radius a disappointment, trunk would work better if swung open side to side rather than up and down, better if GT high output engine ran on reg gas....read morehide

- Comfortable front driver and passenger areas, Good Accelleration for a 4 cylinder.
- The convertible trunk is small, but you can put the seats down and still cary long object.
Purchased As New
I have had 3 PT cruisers and traded them in for upgraded versions. The front driver and passenger seats are very spacious. I can put long items in the car if I need to carry them. I haven't had ANY problems with my car.

- Style and look of car is great
- 4 cyl non-turbo engine is too slow and eats gas badly
I'm upset because Chrysler did not put the Standard turbo engine in my 2006 Touring PT Convertible - they are deceiving and tricking the public and not going by their book on the car. I did not know the car had a regular PT convertible non-turbo engine in it and did not realize Chrysler was putting the engine in the Convertible Tourings as an option and charging extra for a lower model engine and they are not supposed to....read morehide

- Great little car. Back seat is much bigger than I expected, 2 adults sit comfortably.
- Could get better gas mileage
This is just a great little car. I am having lots of fun driving it. I have had this cruiser for 5 weeks and so far I have no complaints. I didn't get the turbo but it seems to run like a champ. I do wish it got better gas mileage but I only have 1,000 miles on it so it might get better. There is plenty of room in the back seat and the truck is bigger than you would expect. Love it!!...read morehide

- Its awesome, retro look; supportive seats; easy to put top up and down
- Gas mileage could be better (but the ride is worth the extra pennies)
After many years and five cars, this is the first time, hands down, that I am IN LOVE with a car. I never experienced this before: I don't just want to drive my spiffy red convertible, I want to accessorize it and take it out to dinner. With the top down, each journey, whether to work or the supermarket, is pure and simple fun. I hope it never ends....read morehide

- Great open air motoring, comfortable, very quiet cabin
- Fuel economy not very good
My 2005 PT Cruiser Convertible Touring Edition is a great open air motoring experience. It is a nimble luxury car. The vehicle is comfortable for long trips, has an amazingly quiet cabin with the top up, has minimal wind turbulance with the top down, handles well, stops smoothly and quickly with non ABS brakes, the turbo engine and automatic transmission combination are smooth and give peppy performance, and the 6 CD changer puts out a great sound. The heater works too well and will drive you out of the car unless you set the fan to the lowest setting. The AC works well too with the recirculating/outside air knob set to recirculate. The electric top and window mechanism works smoothly and quickly. I added my own high-quality leather steering wheel cover and am surprised that it was not a part of the package. Rear visibility looks like it would be terrible but it really isn't. Lane changes can be done with ease by glancing in your rear view mirror, a glance in one of your well-adjusted side mirrors, and a quick head check, not bad at all! My only complaint is the not great fuel economy. I average 19.25 mpg city and 24.5 mpg highway, not quite up to the 19/26 EPA estimates and I don't push the car very hard. My Ford ZX5 averages 23 city and 30 highway under the same driving conditions and is an equal to better performer overall, but the top doesn't come down. Test drive at PT Convertible and you will be sold....read morehide

- Amazing Styling, New Cool Vanilla with Beige Top Rocks, Best Birthday present ever!!
- Did not get Turbo, but good pick-up regardless. Love everything about "Lola"! (Her Name)
Love this convertible. My Dad had a loaded 2003 PT Cruiser (not convertible) that I loved, so I just had to have the New 2006 PT Cruiser Convertible for my Birthday! The New Cool Vanilla with the beige top looks really classy. Great fuel mileage (especially during these high gas prices), smooth handling, amazing stereo system (even with the top down), fast up and down convertible top, and too many other spectacular features to list. Run out and get yourself one today...YOU DESERVE TO BE HAPPY!!...read morehide

- The whole car is just fun to drive and own
- A few window squeaks when the top is up. Fuel economy is OK.
The car gets lots of looks and positive comments. That means it should be easy to resell. The interior plastic seems to mark with little effort.
Only takes a few minutes to wash and wax. The engine compartment is VERY tight if you like to mess around with detailing under the hood.
The car does remind me of my childhood when we used to buy old 48 Fords for $25.00 and drive them into the ground.
Very peppy engine with the Turbo. In fact, the first time I floored it to pass at low speed, it had too much torque and actually pulled the steering wheel to the right. A bit scary when the car beside you wasn't that far away.
All in all. for the price and performance, it's a heck of a deal.
I replaced my BMW 328i convertible with this car, and needless to say it's a bit of a come down, but $25,000.00 less from the jeans pocket.
Buy one, you won't be unhappy....read morehide

- A lot of trunk space for a convertible! Even with the top down their is no intrusion to the trunk!
- I can't be in it all the time!
Great car when choosing a convertible, low noise with top down, I recommend the turbo models as the normally aspirated models are a bit sluggish when it comes to pick up. Power top is a dream! I still get stares from others even though the PT has been on the raod for a few years now...
