2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible User Reviews
- $6,224 - $7,727
- ragtop fun personality, useful, comfortable, zippy, safe
- so-so gas mileage, expensive to replace 17" performance tires
I LOVE THIS CAR. I've got a silver 2005 PT Cruiser Convertible GT with a black top and a black and tan leather interior, fully loaded. It's 2007 and people still comment on this car all the time, saying "I didn't know there was a convertible version!" and "I really didn't think much of this car, but this is the nicest PT Cruiser I've ever seen. Actually, my wife was thinking of getting one... How's the gas?" It's really funny. I've seen really nice cars on the road that I check out and I see them checking out my car back! When my friends go to the club they always want to pile in my car, and this car is meant for going to the beach with the top down.
Very reliable, very safe. An '86 Corvette hit this car at 30 mph. The corner of my car crumpled up with no injuries. The Corvette looked like a crushed soda can that had been stomped on. Also, a year later a dear jumped out at night on a background. I swerved to avoid it and hit a 4 ft. deep ditch at 60 miles an hour. Once I changed a tire, I drove the car out of the ditch and drove it around for months w/a banged up front fender before turning it in for repair. I know I'm lucky I walked away with nary a scratch in those situations, but I also feel like this car is a little tank. And the insurance is pretty cheap too. As for reliable? How about a road trip from Orlando to NY 4 TIMES in 1 MONTH? I had to replace my tires, but that was after burn outs, street racing, and then that road trip. There was a stretch on a highway in the dead of night where I went 125 mph for 4 hours straight, and the car was dead quiet and smooth. :) (It got up to 135 mph but the chip would kick in.) Switching from Auto to autostick is enjoyable, especially when you're on winding mountains roads, specifically, The Eagles's Nest. People's mouths always drop open when they find out well this car performs.
As for space? I moved my household and my friend's in this car. I've fit beds, 2x4's, a full sheet of plywood, fish tanks, a full sized leather recliner... You get my point.
As for complaints? I've had moments where I've practically lived in my car, and the bucket seats don't make for the most comfortable sleeping position when lying down, although the flat seats on a regular PT Cruiser wagon is very good for that. My friends complain, no matter what the height, about the passenger's seatbelt, which always seems to fall across their neck. I got in the passenger seat and it does on me too. One more thing. It costs me an arm and a leg to have repairs and maintenance done for my car by Chrysler, but everytime I try to save money and bring it to someone else, they always mess it up and I have to go back 3 or 4 times for them to get the repairs right. As you can imagine, that's a real headache. Also, the transmission fluid is specialized, so you have to go to a dealer to buy it instead of say, walking into Autozone. But other than that, this car is just wonderful, fun and useful....read morehide

I have a 2005 PT Cruiser convertible. It has pros and cons. The pros are it's great to have the top down and go cruising. What fun! The cons are when the top is up, there's air that gets through the windows and makes a noise while driving with the windows. It's also terrible when parallel parking or looking to back up etc. Terrible viewing when backing up. Can't see out the back or sides too well.
But for cruising, what a ride! I still wouldn't trade my PT Cruiser, just for a little wind through the windows....read morehide

- Looks great, runs smooth at highway speeds, great exceleration, seats are excellent.
- noisey in town, side windows creak with the top when rolled up, harsh ride in town, no
Mine is a 2005 I purchased in 2004. It is inferno red with black top. It looks great. I wish the trunk opened further for loading and that it had a center console so that small notes, etc wouldn't blow around with the top down. In addition the road noise is loud in town. Otherwise, it is a great car that gets lots of attention. I have driven it across country and it road great on the highway. The sitting position is great....read morehide

I have a 2005 PT Cruiser convertible that I love to drive. The car is the Linen Gold color and is a real looker! We are planning to drive it to Florida for the Winter. I just wish it wasn't soooo noisey.
