- Pros
- Very comfortable, turbo is amazing, such a different experience driving this car, it's fantastic!
- Cons
- Stereo sound could work a little better when I have it really loud.
Purchased As Used
We got an amazing deal for $8000 it only had 17,000 miles on it! Considering it's worth almost $11,000 right now, it was a steal! It is practically a new car! It's a car to buy if you love Pts. I like the fact that I sit higher up than a car. I live in a very cold area, and the brakes and traction and handling are wonderful - I feel so safe in this car. I love this car so much!!!! And it's purple, so the car really feels like me!...read morehide

- Pros
- Pleasing to the eye, Smooth ride, SATELLITE RADIO!!!!, Great interior
- Cons
- Trunk space limited, Fuel economy..
WE LOVE THIS CAR(SUV)...My wife and I have three cars but we are constantly drawn to driving the Cruiser. The Electronic Vehicle Information Center in the dash board is phenomenal. The ride is impeccable. My wife is expecting our first child so we had to get a new car. After test driving every SUV in the Tacoma area, I never thought that I would have this much fun driving this vehicle or feeling the camraderie of seeing other PT Cruisers on the roads of Seattle. We have a Black Touring Signature. The only two things I want to add is a Sunroof and a spoiler and then this will be the bestest vehicle I have ever had the good fortune of driving. hahahaha...read morehide

- Gas milage,
This is my second written review on the PT 2005 standard purchased in August 2005. At the first writting, I was getting 17.34 mpg around town without any long distance experience. Since than, I have logged 5,000 miles, had my first oil change and still like my PT.
However, the gas milage is something that is hard to get over. My average milage has hoovered around 17.34 city driving. I have gone to Laughlin Nev, from So. California and experienced 21.2 mpg going there and 22.34 on the return trip. Driving stlye was conservative. This is really unacceptable for 2.4 standard engine.
The strange thing is since I changed my oil and filter, (Securiy Fram filter and Mobile 1 Synthenic oil), I actually lost about 50 miles to the tank; this was verified thru two tanks of gas. At the time of this writing I have not deterimed the reason (i.e. wrong oil weight, substandard filter) but am convienced it is related to the oil/filter change.
It would be convienent for the customer to have a website for possible answers to problems like this. Especially since customer service is questionable from the Chyrsler dealerships....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- looks great on dealers lot, nice and roomy
- Cons
- hearing lots of bad reviews on engine, paint, and noise in cab
thank you to everyone who has comminted of this car!! I was two weeks away from singing the papers and putting a large sum down on my pt cruiser, but after reading the reviews and hearing alot of different people complaine about the engine quality, the paint, and the noise from the car I have decidede to get a different car. In fact after hearing all the complaints about customer service from crysler I won't be buying from them at all. What really disturbs me is that so many people from so many places said crysler was of little or no help. It has taken me 15 MONTHS to save up the money for a pt cruiser but i wont spend that money on a disappointment. I'll be taking the advice of one of the ratings that said "turn around and run!"...read morehide

Chrysler hit it on the head with apperance and comfort, but the completly miss it in engine transmission paint quality and customer suport.my engine blown at 12000 miles, had to pay a decutable and no car rental make sure you have everything in writting dont take sales persons word unless you want to learn the hard way like me.had replaced trans out at 18000 miles torq converter out at 18120 thoese deductables add up also lemon law no the refused to replace the car.Chrysler says all dealerships are independent so they can't do anything.crappy gas milage 18-19 mpg sticker is a lie but what sticker isnt.My experiance with this car made me wise never to buy a chrysler again so if you dont have any problems with your car then your set but look out if you do chrysler will blow you off and dont forget even though its under warranty you still have to pay a deductable this car is 100% made in mexico.Traded in my heap of junk for a toyota and yea o what a feeling the take care of you with any problems that you have because they do have a say to the dealerships....read morehide

- Pros
- Great styling, plenty of interior/cargo room, fold-down or remove seats in back
- Cons
- Gas mileage is not as high as I would like, but much better than an SUV
Bought the car new in June, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Very comfortable, plenty of space. Handles well, easy to drive.
I have not experienced the problem with noise from the back windows that other reviewers have mentioned. The sunroof works well. I like the extra power outlet in the rear storage area, as well as the adjustable shelf. CD player is good, wish there was closed storage in the console between the front seats for storing CDs, etc....read morehide0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- While the PT is a good looking car, it's performance is substandard.
- Cons
- Automatic surges in gear, ride is rough & customer service is the pits.
I bought an '05 PT for my wife & it became such a thorn in both our sides I sold it. The day I bought it, the San Rafael Chrysler dealer was disrespectful on top of dishonest.. that should have been an indication. The transmission was faulty & customer service is practically non- existant. Anyway I bought a Nissan & we are both very happy with the car & the service....read morehide

- engine had to be fixed at just over 2000 miles
Had to have lifters replaced in engine at just over two thousand miles.
Took three days to fix. At first wasn't even sure chrysler would fix car.
Loved car right up until that very day. Can't wait to get rid of it!1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Solid ride, Roomy, Versatile, Comfortable
- Cons
- Gas milage, Rear view, Paint, Turning radius, Noisy Interior
Bought this 2005 as a used "program car" with 12,000 miles. The overriding reason for choosing this car was to accommodate a folding wheelchair in the rear, standing up and folded, while still holding 3-5 passengers. Just fits.
The Cons:
The gas milage is a bit disappointing. The turning radius is larger than it should be. The cabin noise becomes apparent on bumpy roads (large tires) and when accelerating (insufficient sound deadening). With a wheelchair in the back, there is almost no view out of the rear window. So, I removed the rear head cushions. It helps. There is no door lock on the passenger side.
The Pros:
The car was a base model with features added by the program car company (Canada): cruise control, cd, AC, AT, fold down passanger seat. The cruise control (never had it before) is something I got used to real fast and I like it. The AC is just powerful enough. The sound system is better than average, but a little inconvient to adjust while driving. The paint is easy to scratch and the primer is white... shows through easily under dark paint that's scratched.
Improve the milage, and a few more tweeks, and this could one hell of a car.
I just hope the dealer problems don't materialize!...read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
