2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser

- Nice driving car, high comfortable seats
- Ride is too stiff
Purchased As New
It was great car until a front wheel bearing started to go crunch, crunch, at 35000 miles. It cost over $500 to get it fixed after Chrysler refused help. If you check the internet, this is a common problem. The out of town dealer charged $112 each. Timkens list at $25 on the internet. What a way to chase away customers....read morehide

- fun to drive, zippy, great cargo space, love the style, my favorite car so far
- gas mileage not even close to sticker claim, best so far 22mpg(highway)
I love my PTC, but really expected better gas mileage, the cloth seats stain with a few rain drops, hard to keep upholstery clean. my little back table stand broke frist time I tried to use it. But I do love the way it looks coming down the road, definately stands along in great styling. My lease is almost up, and I would consider getting another one....extremely reliable car all in all...read morehide

- lots of room for small price
- horrible on gas, paint on front of grill is already peeling off
i bought 07 used, went from sports car to this, sports car got better gas mileage and had a lot more power. the only good thing i can say is it has more room than the sports car. at speeds of 55 mph or more, it shakes and is having a hard time maintaining higher speeds, and the paint on the front grill has started peeling (ive only had it about 3 months), we'll see what the dealer will do since it is under warranty. after starting up, it acts as if there is some sort of hesitation. i am averaging 15 in town, and the best i have gotten on the roadway is 18, this is not good when i thought i was giving up horsepower for fuel economy. please research this car before buying!!!...read morehide

- It starts up with regularity. The analog clock is reliable. Cheap.
- Brakes, Seats, Hard Armrests, weak engine,
The engine is generally very weak but when you put the air conditioning on it feels like you're towing a boat. Steering tends to wander on the highway requiring frequent course correction. More than 15 minutes in those badly designed seats is torture. The brakes are downright scary.

- Good fuel, great driving car,
- would change the seat interior
this is my second one First was a 2003. Simply love this car. Roomy and great to drive.
Good on gas. Handles the road great. Only thing I would change is the interior. Would love to see it go back to the kind of material that the 2003 had. The 2008 is too hard to keep clean.
The sportest little vehicle on the road.Chrysler, please continue to make this car. I will need a new one for 2010.I can't figure why people say negative things about the cruiser. This car handles so good. Also love where the door locks are.So much head and leg room....read morehide

- Cute looking. Practical. Flexible configurations. Ride. Comfortable seats. Smooth engine.
- Mileage is so-so.
This is a really great car. But you need to get it equiped right. Touring suspension, sunroof, stain proof seats, better wheels are the way it should be sold. Mine is really a nice car. I could take a long trip and not feel tired driving it.Yes, it does not get great mileage but it is not aerodynamic. But what other car can you seat five confortably, or remove the rear seats and haul a large TV? This car is not for everybody but you will not be able to get a better car for 15k with more features and flexibility....read morehide

- Sporty, comfortable, nice fit and finish, fun to drive
- Fuel mileage
Coming up on 5 years and 60,000 miles on my 2003 PT Touring and still enjoy it. Bought it for its styling and advertised fuel economy but came up short at the pump. Averaging only 23mpg city/hwy with a 5 speed during my weekly commute in Silicon Valley. Should be better but it's a heavy car ... which worked in my favor when I was rear-ended the first year and the solidly built Cruiser with those protruding bumpers came out ok.
In 5 years of ownership I have replaced the tires once, at 45K miles, not replaced the brakes yet, did the 30K maintenance, had the 3rd gear replaced in the transmission for a broken tooth, did regular oil changes with a quart of oil in between until the rings finally seated at 40K miles, and flushed out the throttle body with carb cleaner for a stalling problem that developed around 45K miles. It's due for a 60K service and I'll do it myself .... plugs, oil and filters for $50.
The fit, finish are still strong points. My wife just bought a 2008 Prius and I think this Chrysler matches it in materials and comfort level. The silver paint is still glossy, the interior is holding up nicely, all the power "stuff" keeps working and I expect it to go another 60K miles without a hitch. I've owned Hondas, Toyotas, Kawasakis, and even a Ferrari and if Chrysler came out with a hybrid version I would jump at that, too ... call me crazy!...read morehide

- Very stylish inside and out, helpful EVIC controls, LOTS of room, good get up and go, great mileage!
- The wheel base is long....so you might think twice about making a u-ey!
I absolutely LOVE my PT! It was my first new car and I opted to buy a 2006 Touring and I love everything about it! I was a little hesitant about the stale and impersonal interior (Mainly the cockpit) but now I love it! The EVIC is very helpful, plenty of options that you can tailor to your specifications, keyless entry with safety chip in the key and I upgraded my alarm to another vibrating disabling device. Disc brakes are really good for short stops (I hated my ABS brakes in my Grand Am....they ALWAYS clunked!), strong transmission for the hills, NEVER overheats (actually, the fan goes on quite a bit.....but there is nothing wrong with it) and it is an overall FUN car to drive that is very affordable! I did have a Blazer before this car and my family are all Jeep owners....so I am used to short wheel bases....which this does not have. It isn't a long car, but you have to really look at intersections if you want to make a u-ey! Other than that, FANTASTIC CAR!...read morehide

- Cutest darn thing on the road! dependable, holds a lot of stuff. Has plenty of power for me.
I bought my 2002 PT in Nov. of 2001 and have had it now for over 6 years. I absolutely LOVE my cruiser! I put minimal upgrades on it including nice rims and better stereo speakers. Everyone always tells me how cute my car is. I took out the back seats and it's like having a panel truck. I use it for my busniness but it's nice enough to use for everyday travel. I haven't had any problems with it at all, I take really good care of it and it still looks brand new. I love love love my car, and will most likely buy another when it comes time. Not the fastest vehicle on the road, but hey, who needs the speeding tickets????????...read morehide
