- Great handling, corners well, comfortable at highway speeds.
- 3.7 L V6 is severely underpowered if travelling in mountains. Go V-8
California coastline heading east into the mountains (to Tahoe) going up hill with four adults and a small payload of skiis and suitcases (no trailer), you'll spend most of your time screaming around 5000 rpm in passing gear just to keep up to the 65mph speed limit, that's using the "tow/haul" feature. Later I test drove the V-8, it was much better. Too bad, I bought the V-6 during the staff discount days last year, I regret it....read morehide

- Ride is Rough , Foot wash is not needed ,
Had a 2002 ,and had to be the best riding truck and looking truck I ever owned .But when the milage got to 35,600 decieded to invest in the new 2005 ,BAD mistake cheaply put together . the water in the drivers side was an extra , never had that in my old truck .
The ride has become the worst as Dodge felt that they needed to change the frame and the way the truck parts fit between the 2x4 and the 4x4 .looks can be deceiving...read morehide

- ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/RIDE/HANDLING/LOOKS LIKE A BIG RAM/BODY FINISH/ALL WHEEL DRIVE/HEATED SEATS/MIRR
- A LITTLE EXPENSIVE
This is my first truck (in my mid-50's) and I love to drive it! I have had great BMWs over the last 15 years, but added a truck for versitility. I have the 250 HP High Out Put engine and the 5 Speed Auto Trans which give me smooth and excellent acceleration and about 17 miles per gallon on REGULAR gas. The all-wheel Drive is great here in the Pacific North West and the truck is a joy to drive....I call it the "Power Wagon" since it has the look of a big powerful truck, but drives more like a" sports car truck." I looked at the toyota and Ford, but I liked the Dodge the best...The interior looks great with large visible gauges and my electric seats heat up fast. It is all new for this year and I have had it for 2500 miles with NO mechanical or other problems of any kind, except My wife likes to drive it and I get her 2003 330xi BMW which is great, but I love the Power Wagon...I also have the towing package which includes heated mirrors and more engine cooling I will need to tow a boat...I would recommend the 250 HP High Out put V-8 engine for great acceleration and handling as opposed to the other engines, it was developed by German engineers and goes great with the 5 spd auto. Also this is the ONLY mid-sized truck with ALL-WHEEL Drive...read morehide

- Quiet smooth ride, nice interior, decent MPG
- 4 wheel ABS is an option it should be standard!
4X4 V8 Quad Cab 5spd Auto
I bought this car about a month and a half ago when I traded in my 2003 2WD Dakota... got stuck one to many times. I have really been impressed with low noise level on the highway and the huge leep dodge made since 2003 in the fit and finish of the interior. I have had no issues what so ever so far and hoping that continues but I never had mechanical issues with any of the Dakota's I have owned including a 1992 that went 170 k miles. I have been getting around 20 MPG in 50/50 city highway driving using regular unleaded gas. Many other manufaturers requir premium gas. The size of this truck is perfect for me I park it in undergroud garages without any trouble.
I would recommend this truck to anyone who does a lot of city driving....read morehide

- V-8,good looks
- Everything else!
I bought this truck because I didn't want a full-size truck but wanted the power. I should've checked the numbers. The Frontier has more power, the Tacoma has a better interior, and this Dakota breaks down. What a rip off! The interior plastics rattle, and the door handle ripped off when I tried to get out. The transmission failed at 3,993 miles, and I haven't towed anything! That ruined our move to Montana from St.Louis. The heated seats dont work very, well, and I need it for Montana. It also stranded me in the middle of nowhere when the engine stopped running. I had to wait for my dad's Titan to tow it. Before I get into any more trouble, I tried to get my money back from Dodge. They gave me my money back and got my trade-in back(1993 Nissan Truck) and drove the Nissan for another 2months. Then I traded the Nissan in for the new 2005 Nissan Frontier. I truely regret buying the Dodge, and would advise people not to buy any Dodge products (Daimler Chrysler, for that matter)....read morehide
