Purchased As Used
I purchased a used dodge avenger awd about 2 months ago. It is an outstanding vehicle for the money. The quick accelerationf from the 3.5L v6 is what sold the car. It does make a few raddles here and there, but i didnt pay for a Mercedes so i dont expect the quality of one. I find that the quality of the engine, trans, and other mechanical components are very good for a car in this price range. In my opinion Dodge sacraficed the interior and put the money and effort where it really matters.
The AWD is just as good as any PREMIUM LUXURY car. It is very responsive and grips well. Under full thouratle launches from 0, there is absoloutly no tire squeel or drama, the car just takes right off and rips through the 6 gears of the auto/shift transmition.
I personaly do mostly highway driving, the car is quiet and comfortable, and cruises very smoothly over rough roads.
I found it a little difficult to drive at first in the city, because of the major blind spots in the back corners. But it didnt take too long to get used to.
Overall i love my 2008 Dodge Avenger, I think it is a great car for the money, and much better then what all of the professional car reviewer's say it is....read morehide

- Appearance is awesome, Navigation is sweet, AWD almost as good as 4WD in winter for this model
- Wheel noice while turning, cheap plastic interior, hard to get parts
I have ran with this car for 14k miles I like it. It is fun to drive and really has a ton of pick up. It drives very will in heavy snow. There is a noise going on when I make a left hand turn, but dealer couldn't find anything. Broke a rim a few months ago woops! Dealer wanted $350 for a new one. Ebayed it for $120. Tires are nonstandard and hard to replace factory. Heated seats heat up fast. MYGIG oh my real fun, but DVD option is sort of a waste and Sirius is always updating which shifts all my favorite stations... Also annoying. Other than that I like it, but I will probably look at something else when done with lease. Dealer service stinks!...read morehide

- MyGig with Navigation, cup holder coolers, Heated seats, uConnect, MoonRoof, Interior LED lighting.
- "Headrests, Headrests, Headrests" - The front headrests bank forward w/ no tilt adjst.
Excellent vehicle overall. The ride is firmer, but with very good acceleration above 4kRPM. Adjusting the steering wheel more vertically "hides" the top 3/4 of the speedometer which is inconvenient. Tends to shift/downshift somewhat hard in lower gears below 2kRPM. Trunk lid opens heavy, but is fairly roomy for a mid-width "sporty" car. Leather trimmed seats will stretch where you sit and eventually crack in the "non" leather seat material (if not treated). Maintains 21-24MPG with shared city/highway driving. Headrests VERY uncomfortable as they angle toward the occupant with no tilt-adjustment - making longer journeys hard on the middle back (unless you lean WAY back) by forcing the driver back-contact to have a gap from the mid-back to a 3" contact surface on the headrest angle....read morehide

- handles well, ride is smooth with the touring suspension and 18" wheels
- not a cold weather car, visibility thru side and rear windows tricky
I purchased the car with 8 miles on it. Took it in after 250 miles to have tow adjusted. It was pulling to the left. I had also noticed what sounded like a high engine rev while braking. This was in mild temperatures. When the temperature dropped into the 20's or teen's I noticed that the engine was having trouble shifting. This was from 2nd gear and up. The engine would not shift until I pushed the rpms to 3000 or just above. Took it to the dealer. Nothing showed up on the computer. They thought the engine was just cold. 4 months old, 2300 miles I am concerned. Is anyone having this problem?...read morehide

- good fuel for v6 engine. Awesome stock sterio, great performance.
- unlock door via key, alarm goes off.
I went to get an charger or magnum and fell in love with the avenger. Roomy, sporty look, 18 inch chrome. And is compliments my wifes Nitro perfectly. Can not beat the power or options for the money. Can't wait to see it in action come winter time.

- It's all about the price for the money or money's worth, IT'S THE AVENGER!
- Toyota and Honda doesn't give options for free, you pay for everything.
Before I bought the Avenger, I tried to compare cars; Toyota, Honda and Nissan. The Japanese cars did not have the all wheel drive and still cost a lot to be paying. I decided to buy the Avenger because I need the AWD when snow season comes again. More safe and secure!

- This is the smaller version of the Charger and with AWD. WOW!
- Toyota and Honda don't have the AWD and will slow down on wet pavement
The best car for the money with looks, MPG, AWD, ride, features galore and performance to back it up. Just an awesome car for todays trendy car buyers like myself. A smooth dirve and good handling car that is better than Camry and Accord. Just a fun car to drive!
