this car sucks. its been in the shop 8 times and every time they say theres nothing wrong with it.are they high. The trunk leaks, windshield wipers dont mold to the window, tires are cheap, blind spot, and the gearshift chrome blinds you when the sun hits it.Ihad my kia for 6 yrs and didnt have to replace a thing.i wish i had it back.It also didnt help that the salesman was the biggest IDIOT i had ever come across in my life. I WILL NOT EVER BUY A DODGE AGAIN!!!!!...read morehide

This car is my second Dodge and I have purchased many other vehicles. I dont know why it would get bad reviews. It is by no means a race car but the styling and ride are unbelievable. It is very affordable and I would consider it anytime to a Fusion or Malibu. It looks like a Baby Charger in my opinion has better body lines. Great gas mileage I think Dodge got it right....read morehide

I purchased the Avenger in Aug 2010, was looking at a Ford Fusion also.I went from a SUV to a family care. Loved it at first, now wish it would blow up. It has been in the shop now three or four times for the same problem. The radio goes off or never comes on. The locks may or may not work. When the locks decide not to work the alarm starts going off. Then you have to start the car for horn to quit. The blind spots are frightening. It is now in the shop again and I wish it would have kept some value to trade it in. This has got me to not like Dodges period....read morehide

4cyl peppy, economical, no louder than a Camery.
Interior clean, masculine, easy to clean, texture gives variety.
Fit and finish excellent.
Smooth Ride, great handling.
Comfortable for a 6 foot 2 inch man.
Exterior sporty and energetic looking, not a dull bubble shape like most cars on the road.
So called blind spot handled by PROPER use of mirrors!
Plenty of space for camping gear....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Rides good, excellent stereo sys, ventilation good.
- Cons
- Not built for people 5 foot, lots of blind spots, seat slightly uncomfortable

2010, hard to configure distance in front frm driver seat, many blind spots for visual. As driver, I find driver seat is uncomfortable when getting out of car. Feel frame more than cushion on thigh. Pass. headrest blocks view when looking to right. Unable to remove. Rear window frames too wide. Like I said, to many blind spots....read morehide

- Cons

Great reliable car. Now have 19,000 miles on it and no problems. Ride very nice, quiet even with 4 cylinder engine. Very comfortable cloth seats.
Big 18 gal.fuel tank allows for 600 mile range on long trips.Big trunk. handles well.
I understand that the 2011 is even better. mmmmm. Maybe I should trade it in.
I have owned 8 other Chrysler products and all have been good, but this is the best yet....read morehide2 out of 11 people found this review helpful.

I am flabbergasted at how many good reviews this car got on here. This is hands-down the worst car I have ever driven. I rented this car for a 3 day weekend, with 6+ hours of driving a day. There was virtually nothing to like about it. The 4 cylinder engine was beyond slow, coupled with a transmission that shifted early and was virtually impossible to get to kick down when trying to go up an incline. The gas mileage was passable, but disappointing when considering how slow the thing is. For that lackluster performance, 30 on the freeway and 25ish city is a letdown. The engine itself provided much too much noise to the cabin, even when cruising along at moderate speed. Additionally, the idle was rough to the point of causing passengers to take notice. The suspension was harshly firm, yet somehow provided no sense of control when cornering with any speed and lended itself toward a lot of body roll. The turning radius makes you feel like you are in a midsize SUV. The brakes felt like they might give up after a few hard stops in freeway traffic. The styling looks like a baby Charger, but actually driving it will help you forget all about the looks. The interior was passable. The seats were cushy enough, not too bolstered. Dash and gauges were acceptable, if not a bit too much plastic around. The best part was knowing that I only rented the thing, but even knowing that I felt like I wasted my money. I'm not sure how Dodge plans to compete with anyone with a car like this....read morehide

- Pros
- Lots of compliments, good fuel economy, great reliability.
- Cons
- Engine sounds a little rough. Not as fast as it looks.

I got a great deal on this car. I paid about $14,000 for it brand new. It is the 2.4 liter, so it gets great fuel mileage.
Lots of people compliment me on it. It has nice style, ample room for 4-5 people, and is sufficiently comfortable. I have had no problems with it yet.
I am not sure if there are many other cars that offer great syling at such a great price....read morehide3 out of 12 people found this review helpful.

I really feel good driving this car. I bought mine used with about 25,000 miles on it (nicely broke in, but still new feeling). If you're in a cooler climate like I am (Minnesota) you'll appreciate how quickly it heats up. It's got 4 cylinders in the engine so as long as you get that you're not driving a Viper, or a Charger, it'll suit you well, and move in and out of traffic with little problem. The 2.4L engine is pretty middle of the road for this class of car, but it will save you on gas and do pretty much whatever you need it to (to the tune of about 30 miles per gallon). I would have liked if mine had come with the U-Connect/bluetooth phone hookup activated, the heated/cooled cupholders, and the MP3 goodies ready to go, but that stuff will only come if you order the higher trim levels or add them on aftermarket (which is normal). I find myself being really gentle when I shift, because the shifter has a plasticy feel to it, and I do know the 2008s had a recall on that part of the Avenger also. I may be worrying about nothing, but even the PT Cruiser feels sturdier on the shift. So far throughout the model year, Dodge hasn't had any recalls on this vehicle which is nice. You'll find a couple "this car is junk" reviews, but nearly everyone I asked personally before i bought is happy with their purchase, other reviews online are generally positive, and this car has gotten a little bit better every year. Between this, and my other choices the Ford Fusion, and Chevy Cobalt sedan, I'd still buy this car again every time....read morehide

After 1 year and 35,000 miles on the vehicle, it still runs like a champ. The only warranty fix was a faulty tire pressure sensor which drained the battery so every 9 hours the key fob wouldn't unlock the car. This car has all of the options available for the R/T model including the RER radio and 18" chrome rims. Map updates are through Navteq.com. You submit the VIN and they will give you the two compact disks and code key. The download takes about an hour....read morehide
