- fuel economy great on CC

Folks if you have an Avenger get the ECU recall done it mitigates most of the torque steer and Xmission issues- howerver on 6%+ grades use the shiftronic as it will try to go to gear 6 all the time and you lose serious power. Other than that absolutely love my HEAT and hate all the htrs...

I bought the 2011 Avenger Heat with 7 miles on it. Originally wouldn't have considered the Dodge but my wife talked my into test driving it. The build quality and design is vastly improved over the 2010 model.
Of the options I was looking for, the Avenger Heat met (or exceeded) most of my expectations...still wish I would have gotten a sunroof. Love the engine, love the spoiler and the dual exhaust. The Media Center is an 8 out of 10 and I had the Bluetooth and iPod adapter installed at the dealer and it is fantastic. If you are looking for the interior bells and whistles the LUX is the trim you would look for. In a nutshell...I love the looks and options of the HEAT trim.
I have put on 6K miles including a 2200 mile trip to the Rockies. The Avenger handled great on the highway and I loved the stereo. MPG was around 29 for the trip.
But not all is perfect...the Heat does have 283 horsepower...but the automatic transmission doesn't do a very good job of handling the power. At times the car feels downright sluggish. If you use the manual transmission option it is much much more responsive. When pushing down on the accelerator there is some torque steer, I notice it more when the roads are wet. I definitely do like the engine...which may explain why I am averaging 19 MPG in the city...I live and work in the Twin Cities.
The Avenger has a massive blind spot between the rear doors and rear windows. I lose cars in it all the time and I constantly worry about hitting people or cars when backing up. I also sit very low in the Avenger...not really sure why but it does mean that I am often misjudging how close my car is to things around it. I feel like I am pulled all the way up to the wall of my garage and I have at least a good two feet to go.
All in all I very much like the car, I like the looks, I like the engine and I got most everything I wanted as far as options...all for under 20K after trade in...which is the ceiling I had. I very much recommend the car......read morehide

i bought a 2009 on the clunker program, sticker was 26500.00, 4500 off from dodge, 4500.00 from gov for trade and 1500.00 off from dealer
good deal right??? WRONG total price 16500.00 BUT had to pay tax on 26500.00 = 1850.00, then in 6mos i fig i had some great trade in value seeing i got 10500.00 off sticker..NOT!!!!! car value was only 15900.00 after 6mos. then the IRS taxed the 4500.00 from the gov as income at 25%, then to top it off the dealer NEVER offered the recycle value of my trade to me, whitch i was to get as more down by law......read morehide
