This is one of the best cars I have owned since my Hemi Cuda back in the 60's. Prior to this vehicle I had a PT cruiser that I also liked a lot however because we tow it behind a RV we needed a manual trans. and they quit making the PT with a manual. Now that we have this Caiber I'm kind of glad that they did....read morehide

This is the new hot car at a budget price. Very high performance. The power is there when you need it but it also gets good gas mileage on the interstate. I love my car. 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 Loads of fun to drive and nobody wants to race you cause they WILL get beat for sure, even V-8's. I beat a 5.0 Mustang by 3 car lengths in a 1/4 mile. Got 101 mile an hour....read morehide

- Turbo. Brakes. Sound System. Seats. Road Feel. Unique combination of performance and family mini SUV
- Erroneous bad press.

It is a good feeling indeed to really love your car. This car is exciting to drive, extremely confortable, very handy for groceries. I have to say I love this car.
There is a sweet spot here that Dodge found with a creative and unique design that is overlooked by many. Don't confuse the SRT4 with the other Calibers. Everything is different from the engine to the suspension to the seats and brakes and wheels and exhaust....
When you see the car it has a distinct appearance that you either love or hate. This car is bold looking. Get in and you find the SRT4 seats are the most comfortable seats of any car due to the way they grip your body and allow you to be positioned well for driving. This car is totally different then the other Calibers.
The motor is a small but efficient 4 cylinder that is a joy to work with as you move through the gears keeping the RPMs matched to the transmission so the precise clutch can quickly click through the gears. (You will understand what I mean when you try to break the 6.0 sec mark for a 0-60 sprint.) This car rewards good driving skill.
The interior is very quiet. Much quieter than the other Calibers. The F1 tires are the quietest (I drove many SRT4s with different tires some tires are very loud on this car.) The 19" F1 tires are very good and sticky. You need 19" tires to clear the big brake calibers. Some folks have gone to 18" rims but the clearance is too small for my taste.
The big brakes are outstanding and give you the feeling of being completely in control and able to stop the car on a dime anytime, anywhere. When I drive other cars now I feel that the mediocre brakes of most cars stand out and make me feel a bit uncomfortable now.
I drive the car to work every day. On the highway the in-dash computer (that computes gas mileage, miles to empty, time for a 0-60 sprint and lots of other great stuff) tells me that I am getting 33 MPG when I cruise in sixth gear. Yes it has 6 forward gears. The transmission is a German made (same company that makes one of the Porsche transmissions).
Outstanding sweet ride. I love this car.
Please ignore the negative press you will find about Calibers and the SRT4. Like I say you either love it or hate it. Too bad the haters tend to be the most motivated to write long reviews bashing the thing....read morehide

I really don't want this getting out because I like being the only one on the road with this car (very rare) but man! this has got to be the best deal out there for a hot hatch back car, and I was shocked at how nice this thing is inside after reading so many negative reviews on it in the car mags, I subscribe to almost all of them.
It's tight, the seats are the most comfortable I have ever sat in, the back seat room is amazing, more than my 04 Durango! gas mileage in the mid 20s...and thats with me driving it like a kid (I'm 50) I got a black one and love the evil looks it has, this model is not cute!
The MyGig system is like something out of StarTrek, you can talk to this thing! and rip your CDs to it's hard drive, it's a pricey option but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Quality and reliability? it's been perfect, just like my 60,000 mile Dodge Durango, flawless, American cars don't scare me.
You can only get this car with a 6 speed manual, no automatic was able to handle the HP, more than any car in this class! so there is no auto option, but the 6 speed is a very nice shifting German Getrag unit, this has been by far the best car I have had in my life....read morehide

- Turbo charged brings a lot of power, racing seats are very comfortable
- Speeding Tickets
I highly recommend this car. It has a lot of power and speed at a great price. The sound system is awesome. Great vehicle for a cheap price. Insurance company rates it as a compact wagon and they don't charge much more than any other car out there.
